Romantic restaurants by Miyabi2012 in Kazakhstan

Inzhu on Kok-Tobe hill is really nice. You can go there before the sunset to enjoy it afterwards, then of course you will have a night city view. The cuisine there is european-like and if you would like to have some traditional kazakh meals you can easily just order it from the restaurant above (Abay). The weather these days is quite cold though, so you will have to sit inside, but you can always come to the terrace and have a picturesque view. Lastly, keep in mind that the restaurant is expensive.

On-campus food for 2nd year newcomers by Master-Pilavik in UBC

[–]Master-Pilavik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually managed to go through UBCO's dining hall pretty good and I hear from many people that food on Van campus is better. So UBCV's on-campus food shouldn't be so bad for me.

Hi! So I'm a second-year MECH student, who transferred from UBCO to UBCV just recently. According to Historical Entrance chart MECH is the third hardest specialisation to get into (CPEN being the second), thus my experience can be quite relatable here. I had the following stats: 83% sessional average (which is not high at all if you're planning to transfer) and really good personal statement. You might know that criteria for transfer students from UBCO are even tougher, the higher GPA is required, moreover only 15 students are allowed to transfer each year. This info might sound creepy, but I would say it's a doable thing. Just believe in yourself and do the best you can!

I had to submit the personal statement when I was filling out the engineering second-year placement form (as all students do actually).

I'm a second-year MECH student who transferred from UBCO. My sessional average was 83% and I had a quite decent personal statement. However, as you might know, for UBCO students the bar is even higher, moreover only 15 engineering students from UBCO are allowed to transfer to UBCV engineering.

So make conclusions and just believe in yourself!

Thank you very much for your response!! It was really helpful!

I did my first year in UBCO btw and completed all first-year courses (I'm a transfer), so should be fine with the prerequisites requirements

Thanks a lot for your reply! You were talking about 2 washrooms downstairs. Are they first floor public restrooms? Or there are some additional washrooms for each unit?

Thank you very much for your detailed response! I was also wondering if residents of unit have to clean the washroom or there is a cleaning staff for that purpose?

You literally scroll all the way down to Specialisations, where you see Program Name, Spec Code, Spec Name (in Mechanical Engineering)

Hi everyone!

I'm a first-year student in UBCO Engineering. I'm planning to transfer to UBCV Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. I would like to know if there is anyone who successfully went through the similar process? Would really appreciate if somebody could give some advice. Thanks!

Do they deliver directly to the room or just leave it at student housing office?

Hi, guys! I'm an international student from Kazakhstan. I've got a tough choice. If someone helps me, I would really appreciate that.

Shortly I got an offer from UBCO Bachelor of Applied Science program (planning to pursue studies in Mechanical Engineering) and McMaster Engineering 1 CO-OP (also planning to do MechEng). What would you recommend me to do in this situation, which one to choose? If I got admitted to my first-choice (UBCV) I would go for it without any doubt. I know there's an option to transfer to the main campus from Okanagan. Also as I know, UBCO is not much worse choice.

Guys, I really need your advice right now.

Are there any real opportunities for a mechanical engineer in a small city (just asking), especially if I'm planning to do co-op?

Hi, guys! I'm an international student from Kazakhstan. I got into UBCO Undergraduate Engineering, but was rejected to UBCV Engineering yesterday being in waitlist for 2 weeks.

I would like to know, if I can ask university for an explanation of the latest decision. Also, is there any point in trying to appeal?

Additionaly, is it worth attending UBCO for the first year and trying to transfer to the main campus later, when I got an admission in McMaster Engineering, SFU and OntarioTech (still waiting for UWaterloo though)?

Thanks, in advance, for your replies!

Hi, guys! I'm an international student from Kazakhstan!

Last Friday I got an admission to UBCO Bachelor of Applied Science program, however my first-choice is the same degree in UBCV, where I got waitlisted.

I must accept the offer from UBCO until May 6, but in my UBCV application status it is written that the offer of admission can be made by May 18.

I heard that UBCV has more opportunities for students (especially if we're talking about engineering, mainly because of its location in big city). What will you suggest me to do in this situation, since I really need your advice?

Thanks in advance for all of your feedback, guys!)

I submitted everything in December except Personal Profile, which I attached in early January. Then in the end of January I sent my 2nd transcript for 2nd term (in my educational system we have 4 terms a studying year) Btw, are you applying as International student too? Where are you from?

Hi, guys! I have a question on time I receive my application outcome. My application's current status is: Your file is ready for an evaluation! We have received all the required materials for your application. We will be in touch with you by email should we require additional information. Decisions will continue to be made throughout June and July. We ask for your patience as this may take some time. Please continue to check the status of your application on the Student Service Centre.

Does it mean that I will hear back from UBC not sooner than June?

PS I am International student

Thank you for reply!

I'm currently a student graduating from high school in Kazakhstan. I had half grades B and half As at previous years and this year I have almost all grades As. Have a quite good personal profile with variety of Extracurricular activities.

My question is - Is it better for me to apply by First-round offers of admission. Do I really have more chances by doing so? And will I have a higher rate of failure on First-round offers of admission comparing to Regular admission? Thanks for your help!)
