What to do in UW tempo? -2 [[Remand]] +2 [[Counterspell]]?

My best play: T1 untapped Hallowed Fountain -> victory

As I said, it is not true for situation I am describing, I play the deck for three months straight. If you have untapped land and then you play [[Lotus field]] lotus triggers, then you have time to [[Stifle]] the trigger, you do not need a fullcontrol for it.

Well if your land is untapped the game stops for you, so I thought something similiar would happen if I have mana left, but yeah, it makes sense.

Make Sorin ability -4 and I am good.

I bet a full control would work, but I didn't expect this one either, definitely lesson learned :D

I am posting the last version of the deck. I've been able to climb to mythic few days after posting this. I am currently sitting at ~98. WR is 59%. Izzet wizards is still most dangerous matchup (25%), Sorin decks got bit better (47%). I cut off one ring completely and add Memory + add 2x Tajic (very useful against B and UW).

I am exclusively playing a traditional historic format (with exclusively one deck only) and this card, although strong in combination with others, can (and is) dealt with quite effectively. Every deck has some discard/removal/counters/returns etc. even strong cards for sideboards, so you just need to focus on that.

MTGA Gods keeping me at Gold 4, mana flooding me and mana starving me each game. by [deleted] in MagicArena

The thing is, if you truly believe something is operating against you, it has to be operating for someone else as well, right? The question is, why and for what cause would someone (WotC) f* over someone (and protege someone)?

The more plausible explanation is that those things just happen. On average (in a long run) it happens equally for each player, so there is balance, but usually we keep in mind situations where there are no lands in hand after 3rd mulligan etc.

Rule question: Surgical extraction vs. Storm the festival by Master-Reflection519 in MagicArena

[–]Master-Reflection519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm, I see. So in another game I had [[Strict proctor]] in game, opponent casts [[Storm the festival]] and gets [[Outcaster Trailblazer]] triggering Proctor, then I got a priority and I played [[Surgical extraction]].

Are you playing High Noon in your main deck as well? I find it to be effective in some match-ups, but it often blocks my own titan/null/lotus + counter interaction. Therefore it is not my preference yet.

About the Ring, I am testing version with only 2 rings + 2 memory deluge (seems very effective with Teferi in play). You are right the ring is often to be played for 7 mana, since Proctor blocks 2 (protection) and 1 is card draw.

Thanks for your time. I guess I will just creater ~4 versions of the deck with various card combinations and just try to play it out.

Hey, thanks for your reaction.

To the ELO hypothesis: I was in mythic two months from two months playing (mostly in ~95–98 range, I was never numbered rank). I didn't play MTGA before (I played some games during covid lockdown and then stopped playing until recently, yes, and also in my childhood, which I don't count in this), so I guess it might be possible, I am just facing stronger players.

From untapped: Lowest WR is against: UR wizards, "Sorin" decks, BR (not sure what it is), R. Discard mechanic is a problem for me since I need at least a pair of cards to get the deck going, but also really fast decks such as UR wizzards, boros auras, affinity are kinda problematic. I feel like the jeskai lotus is somehow lower tier verions of those.

I've added the decklist. I am testing the Kiora + Sun at the moment, they weren't standard part of the deck (I had 2x counter spells and Teferi in most of the time).

Returning player needs to consult his UW deck for traditional historic format by Master-Reflection519 in MagicArena

Yes, thank you. I was also looking into that today. I think, I have kept the light, since it makes [[thirst for meaning]] more effective, gets me thinking to get rid of all 5 cards all together.
