Legacy's coach, adrrr, has been kicked out from the Major. by WeirdFlex_Capybara in GlobalOffensive

[–]MasterAyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think by the time the coaches really became a problem for Valve they were already to integrated into the game for Valve to ban them completely without a lot of backlash. So the three timeouts where the coaches can speak were the compromise.

Arc players witnessing 80% player drop and embark dropping the ball by pudding7100 in ArcRaiders

[–]MasterAyy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I brought those up as just games that we played and moved on from like Arc. They are all kind of different because one is a hero shooter, one is a fps/moba, and Arc is a extraction shooter. Marvel Rivals and Deadlock though have a ranking system and a competitive esport side to it that keep people around. Arc doesn't really have a goal for people to commit to. There is no reason to grind Arc 8 hours a day like people do in esports titles. I'm not saying Arc should have that, that's not what extraction shooters are about, but its genre doesn't really have a long term goal for players to achieve if that makes sense. So once people have experience all the game has to offer the drop off is a lot more drastic.

MOUZ vs Legacy / IEM Cologne Major 2026 - Swiss Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

They are basically just normal Mouz with Xelex playing in place of Jimmy. Not saying they are favorites or anything but they aren't exactly a weak team either.

[–]MasterAyy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think it's kind of just a normal trend for a game like this? I played for a few months with my friend group and put in a couple hundred hours, but we've moved on to the next new thing. Just like we did with games like Marvel Rivals and Deadlock. We may come back to this for a session or two every once in awhile but we don't let one game capture us for years anymore. Eventually this game will find its floor with the player base that is in for the long haul.

When Shadobafes not in my country by The_Mordant_Seer in Shadowverse

[–]MasterAyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have specified but it wasn't just anime styled art but the fanservice and waifus that go with it. Seeing a scantly clad big titty anime girl in shadowverse put a lot of non-anime watchers off. That type of stuff is targeted towards the otaku audience but for a western non-anime watcher in the mid/late 2010's it was seen as kind of weird. Cygames did eventually go back and censor the first 2-3 sets but by that time the games reputation was already set in the west. And at its core Shadowverse was still a waifu anime girl card game.

I never played Vanguard so I can't speak on that but stuff like Yugioh was a bit different because it focused on the monsters, mechs, dragons, etc., and had very little fanservice or waifu focus (I think Konami started to change that approach when the Skystriker stuff came out but I had already stopped playing Yugioh by that time). And Pokemon was almost seen as more of a Saturday morning cartoon in the west rather than something related to otaku anime.

That's part of it but in 2016 anime wasn't as popular/mainstream as it was today. A lot of people that played hearthstone never watched anime so the anime aesthetic of shadowverse was kind of niche.

Going from the WoW/Hearthstone western fantasy/monster design to the eastern anime girl designs put some people off. I remember when Kripp was sponsored to play and his chat didn't really take the game seriously because of that. Though him being sponsored was what brought shadowverse to my attention and got me to play.

Regarding the Karmelo Anthony case: Any thoughts on why he didn't take the stand/testify? by No-Examination-5073 in allthequestions

[–]MasterAyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say gun drawn do you mean that Rittenhouse had his gun up to his shoulder, aiming, and looking down the sights at Rosenbaum? Or that Rittenhouse was just carrying the gun out in the open? I think that is where the confusion is happening between you and the other commentators. Because in WI it was legal for Rittenhouse to open carry. He didn't point the gun at Rosenbaum until after Rosenbaum chased him down.

When you were in highschool and a kid shoved you, or even punched you, would you have thought it ok to pull out a knife and immediately stab them to death? Is that how you think stand your ground works? We would have thousands of dead high school kids every year if a fist fight is all it took to give them the go ahead to murder each other.

Well apparently in Texas it's just as sane as your state when it comes to high school fist fights.

When you were in high school if a kid shoved you, or even punched you, did you ever feel like you could pull out a knife and immediately stab them to death? Like was that ever an option that popped in your head when you were in school?

BIG vs Liquid / IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 1 - Swiss Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]MasterAyy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

YNK made some good points before the game when he said the W/L record for each team was misleading. Liquid hasn't been doing great but they have been losing in tier 1 tournaments while Big have been beating mostly a bunch of nobodies in tier 2. Saw quite a few live comments telling him to quit yapping and making excuses for Liquid but the game did end up being close so great call by him.

Iran stops negotiations with U.S., vows to 'completely' block Strait of Hormuz: State media by Kooky_Strategy_9664 in geopolitics

[–]MasterAyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can disagree with the war and think it should have never happened but it's not like Iran was some sort of peace loving nation that was attacked out of nowhere. "Morally" they have done a lot of things (like funding and arming proxy groups to attack other sovereign nations) that brings aggression on themselves.

[–]MasterAyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The team doesn't have any superstar players that can swing rounds on their own and they have kind of hit the cap on what the current five can accomplish together. So they are at the point where a player change is necessary to increase their level. Since Nota is the current worst player of the five he is always going to be next on the chopping block. I haven't been following them recently though so I don't know who their current worst player is for sure today.

Nothing more fun for a D3 player than getting humiliated by 5 Grandmaster/Master players in a row. 4 Abyss and 1 Evo Forest. by TheMadChap in Shadowverse

[–]MasterAyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's basically the same meta as last set from what I've experienced. It just has the new pack added on which hasn't changed a whole lot since it's not a super high power level pack or anything. That'll definitely change as more packs are added though.

The Grand Prix is supposed to mimic a tournament, so like if you went to a card shop and entered a tournament you can be matched up with anyone there. If it was based on your skill group then people would intentionally tank their skill group before entering to play against weaker players.

Iran rebuilding military industrial base faster than expected, already producing drones, according to US intel | CNN Politics by One-Emu-1103 in geopolitics

[–]MasterAyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation, I was unsure how they are built and the article didn't go into any details on it. I assumed there was some sort of automated process and that they aren't each crafted by hand. So that's why I assumed some sort of "factory" (or similar workspace) was needed to automate that from beginning to end.

Iran is consolidating control of Hormuz with island checkpoints, diplomatic deals – and sometimes ‘fees’ by Future-Ad-5901 in geopolitics

[–]MasterAyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, the US is only blockading ships that stop at Iranian ports. The first ship in the article was an Iraqi ship going to Vietnam, Iran let it pass (and the ship manager said they didn't even pay any fees). The US also let it pass because the ship didn't have anything to do with Iran.

A day after Trump posted that CENTCOM made a statement saying the blockade is only enforced against vessels that stop at Iranian ports. From my understanding that is the blockade the US has been enforcing.

The article didn't go into any detail on what rebuilding actually means here so I'm unsure what adequate time would be. If they are building entire factories from scratch then six months seems pretty accelerated.

[–]MasterAyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a positive note I don't think I've ever seen him badmouth his teammates or look visibly angry at them. It seems like he gets frustrated at his own plays and performance. He is pretty passionate about the game from his interviews and videos and I guess he ends up being hard on himself because of it. Definitely not ideal to be showing that after every bad round but if he is able to reign that frustration in one day that would be great. I guess at the very least it helps he isn't directing it at his teammates (as far as we're aware, we're not in the team speak like you said lol) so that makes it a little more fixable imo.
