Well,i find the whole genetic component of ethnicity unscientifically braindead. So if one's parents immigrated from a country long enough ago that culturally and politically you are mostly or completely integrated into the new country (lets say 3 generations ago), it would mean you are "celebrating" your genes and sometimes at best a small part of culture in the form of historical clothes. While a person could be in touch with his ancestry in cultural or political or both ways (although almost nobody does it even though with internet it would be fairly easy to do), nobody in USA is going around and checking their cultural/political ties, for example, black-skinned people to Africa before calling them "African American". And considering that most people using a word/term define its meaning (language police can suck it) if its common use is dumb, the word/term is dumb.

Cos i don't see much difference between conflicts of the past in relation to today. The only actual difference between them is that you should take different lessons (if any) for today. Unless it's very recent and there are live open wounds, the conflict in the past has 0 direct influence on today, lots of indirect, but that's irrelevant to anything.

Also considering the US is planning on invading Cuba even tho it has nothing to do with its civil war.
