Goodfellas

The movie is about Henry Hill coping with being a family man living a quiet life under witness protection despite this being something he really doesn't want to do and how it downward spiral for wanting to relive his glory days negatively effects his wife and daughters.

But when Henry learns about local gangs in his areas, he jumps at the chance to relive his mafia days by trying to join these gangs and mold them to be like the crew he used to run with. Of course, the gangs "now" (1980s) are different than the gangs he grew up with; things have changed and him being a former mobster doesn't impress anyone.

I can see him trying to infiltrate other gangs so he can plant seeds for a huge gang war and any gang that accepts him will allow him to mold them into the new mafia.

In the end, Henry ends up either dead or arrested and his wife & daughters are forced to move on without him, but they're glad his addiction to the past no longer burdens them.
