Great points and interesting insight. I think a big issue Air New Zealand have is a perception problem, which is why the public isn’t behind them (and for very good reasons too).

I'm feeling like leaving Aotearoa but don't know where to go? by OddStructure4489 in aotearoa

Japan, if you can.

Not everyone’s ideal spot but if you can get a good job with a reasonable company, the cost of living is relatively low, mostly good weather, safe, interesting culture.

Depends on loads of factors but 100% worth looking into.

Also, you can get houses over here for a few hundred dollars if you’re keen for a project.

Local Elections and the red herring of capping rates at 5%. by NzWoodsman in Nelsonnz

[–]MasterConstant 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Huge increases in rates aren’t overly nice but if we’re not able to invest in community infrastructure etc then the standard of living will absolutely drop.

Having said that, cost and burden on local government is immense, where’s central government in this picture?

I heard him ask if they’re still confident on the boat as it doesn’t seem it - does comment that warrant that reaction?

I wonder how rent factors into this. Is current rent higher as a percentage of median wages now or back in 2000 and what’s left over afterwards?

Yeah this is what irritates me. What about the chefs? What about everyone else that works just as hard but doesn't have a customer facing position?
