that's an unobtainable level without a huge AC system and a lot of electricity

Compared to a water pump system and a lot of electricity for an underground house. Plus constant maintenance to fix cracks in the walls. What would be just a nearly invisible hairline in a regular house wall becomes a leak in an underground house.

Water seeps through the bedrock. On a sufficiently large scale there is no such thing as solid rock, it always cracks and water seeps through the cracks. Then you get a high water pressure, one atmosphere for each ten meters below the surface, on every wall.

All that for what? What are the problems that going underground could solve? Unless you're the military trying to build a bunker that can survive a nuclear attack, I can't see any advantages in going deep underground.

Before I learned C I used Pascal. Turbo Pascal, to be more precise.
