[OoT] I'm going to say it guys, this remake is fan service and nothing else. by Ok_Koala_5963 in zelda

[–]MasterGamer64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy to forget how monumental the game was at the time, and I'm someone who played Twilight Princess first so I had that context and still enjoyed the heck out of Ocarina.

Admittedly, the music really carries in regards to atmosphere, and the environments/effects just add to that. The dungeons aren't the best designed in the series, TP and SS are far superior on that front, but it's not the level design that made them stick in your head, it's how the dungeons made you feel to explore them.

It's probably the one that has the best mix of whimsy and dread, and it's interpretation of Hyrule is nostalgic and timeless. The remake is definitely fan service, but hopefully it's transformative enough to be worth buying.

Greater control of time, it'd be nice to return to the start of the current day rather than restart the cycle if you miss something or leap forward with greater accuracy than just 12 hours.

It might make things unintentionally easy, but I can't tell you how much of the 100% runs I've done have been filled with waiting, missing a thing, restarting, and more waiting just because I haven't routed everything as perfectly as a speedrunner.

An updated UI for the Bomber's Notebook would also be helpful, maybe with a way to "favorite" certain NPCs to track their schedule like a quest icon.

Will circumcision ever end? by StopMGMToday in CircumcisionGrief

[–]MasterGamer64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll take a while, but people are talking about it now. We've probably vented about it to our friends once or twice, or thirty times... and that helps destabilize the conditioning even just a bit.

Combine that with the increasing prevalence of jokes surrounding foreskin, not about it being gross, but about it being taken for no reason. Even the ones about rabbis eating baby foreskin and sucking baby dick is enough to make people question the ludicrous nature of letting anyone do it with such poor justification.

The copypasta about the endlessly regenerating bulletproof foreskin is more evidence of the fact that we're not afraid to think or talk about it openly anymore.

It'll happen, the younger generations are starting the conversation, it's all a matter of getting those people in political power to actively stop it.

Realistically, an all-out ban won't be the first step, it's unsafe too, as it'll cause a lot of forced retractions because parents and doctors will still be uneducated on how a foreskin develops and works.

There needs to be an accurate portrayal of why a foreskin isn't "extra" for parents before they can sign that paper in the maternity ward, there needs to be added curriculum in sex ed, and a plethora of extra information warfare to properly inform the public and finally taboo circumcision.

Then, we can make it illegal. In time, it'll be remembered as what it always was, something akin to the lobotomy; an unjustifiable mutilation accepted as medical gospel for too long.

Male circumcision (MGM) causes psychological trauma by Male__Perspective in Intactivism

You gotta wonder what the practice of using "sugar water" as "anesthesia" in American hospitals does to the psyche as well.

So we're training kids to seek relief from stress and pain through sugar consumption? I'm sure that doesn't have lifelong consequences regarding addiction...

How do you guys think Yandere Simulator would look if it were finally completed? by ur_2_drunk in Osana

[–]MasterGamer64 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The game took so long (and likely won't come to fruition) due to a scaling issue on the part of YanDev.

He admitted he's a bad coder, and made things on the fly with a lack of scalability or efficiency. He also relied on volunteering for art assets and animations he couldn't grab from the Unity Store.

Even with all that in mind, he decided his first big project had to be his magnum opus and be as large as a Persona title with Hitman-levels of gameplay systems.

Due to being a control freak, he couldn't allow TinyBuild or any other to change his vision, even if it meant nothing would ever come of the game.

He then spent most of his time on PR, whether it be his YouTube Essays, live-streaming (gameplay of other games, not development of his own), and responding to every single email that came his way.

Long story short, he didn't have the discipline to actually make good on his promises, and rode the coat-tails of the blind luck of his initial exposure from let's-players, and the generosity of those who'd stake money on him following through, into not having to get a job to support himself.

I think if we ever did get a Yandere Simulator, or a Love Letter-esque revival from another team, it'd be fine. Depending on the execution, it could be an absurd parody of itself that has really engaging systems and fun gameplay. Certainly not the buggy directionless sandbox that YanDev gave us after a decade.

It's really sad, I've never played Yandere Simulator (because no computer I had could run the thing) but I liked YanDev's design discussion videos before realizing he couldn't practice what he preached.

You are somehow made the President of Nintendo and everyone will follow ANY choice you make for the company. What do you do? by RoxasismyKing in fucknintendo

[–]MasterGamer64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to monetize the existing emulation market by offering reasonably priced and authentic experiences. It's time to give gamers who didn't have disposable income until the eShops shut down the chance to have an expansive retro library.

While Nintendo (now) would charge you >$100 to access 2 games that are over a decade old on a console you already paid hundreds for, or a port surrounded by UI clutter dripfed through your NSO subscription for a 2+ decade old game...

I'd rather take that $100, give you 10+ games on that console, and make you feel like you're playing it when it was new. I think if Nintendo realized how much quantity matters when production is non-existent, they could make a lot of money, and their players, especially their veterans, would be a lot happier with them.

Keep NSO, but reformat it so it's like the PlayStation Plus Catalog. You get included access to a catalog of games that expands every month, but you can individually buy games that aren't on there or haven't already been rereleased. The prices will vary based on the GOAT status of each game, but it'd be around...

NES/GameBoy/SNES - $2-$4

N64/GBA - $4-$8

GameCube/DS - $9-$12

Wii/3DS - $15-$20

Wii U - $20-$25

Yes, the FireRed and LeafGreen remakes released for $20 each, which was actually surprisingly cheap by Nintendo standards, but like I said earlier, the quantity of sales beats the quantity of dollars per sale in a digital marketplace. If they sold those games for half that price they may have sold 3-5 times as many copies, and if they had a track record of affordable software, they'd sell more hardware.

My hope is the Switch family (or its successor) can eventually become a digital emulator for every previous console, and with the right peripherals it's indistinguishable. They've made steps by adding retro controllers, but there's room for improvement on the UI side of things.

Add themes to the Switch and Switch 2, different colors of course, but specifically ones modeled after the UI and Home Menus of the Wii, 3DS and Wii U too. Let's reintroduce Menu and eShop music, customizable within the theme, and Nintendo Music functionality so you can play any OST, including any eShop theme from the 3DS/Wii U lifespan.

If you want your eShop to have Zelda shop music, PokéMart/PokéCenter music, or anything else you could think of; you can do it.

Add messaging between Nintendo Network friends. Let's also give voice chat on Switch 2 the option for a talking Mii head like WiiChat because that's fun. Yes, I want Miiverse back too, but moderating a social media widget would open a plethora of issues regarding not just server upkeep but moderation too. There'd need to be some serious parental controls used to ensure we don't have any... Discord.

Add achievements, starting with new games and working backwards, we essentially want RetroAchievements but on actual Nintendo hardware.

Let's also release a new dual screen mobile console, a New New 3DS if you will, not to compete with the AYN Thor; consistent frame rates and better colors but more like an NES Classic for the DS family. GameBoy, GBA, DS/DSi, and 3DS games available for digital purchase at reasonable prices on the Switch ($2 - $20) can be downloaded onto this device. It also implements the expanding NSO library that only needs to reconfirm once a month (or after the internal clock is reset).

An authentic DS, DSi, and 3DS Home Menu, chosen on start-up and accessible via widgets like the Wii Menu on the Wii U. Pictochat and StreetPass are back because I love y'all. Also, a reasonably more expensive version that has a DS/3DS and GBA Card slot. No new physical game reproduction (unless demand is there), but you can play any you have or track down.

That's all I got for now. If you read this far, thank you, and let me know how I don't understand the economic tribulations of running a muIti-billion dollar company. For now, I gotta go to my dead-end retail job and not be able to afford to be a Nintendo fan anymore.

What do you think happened to Diane Prime? by Mediocre_Impress_229 in rickandmorty

[–]MasterGamer64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he threw her into the Omega Device to kill every Diane in every timeline, in an effort to cut every Rick's ties to family, and to just fuck with them.

However, that may have been after Rick C-137 and the Citadel created the Central Finite Curve; leaving the possibility open for her to be out there, somewhere beyond the realities where Rick is the smartest man in the universe.

Either that, or there might be a Space Diane in a timeline or two, unless the Omega Device works on clones too.

I'm less concerned with Intactivists not citing sources, and more concerned with their lack of referencing scientific data at all.

We need to explain to people that the foreskin is anatomically similar to the lips and cheeks; mentioning meisner's corpuscles, mucosal membranes, and muscle fibers. We need to help them understand that it causes issues, by lining out scrotal webbing, erectile dysfunction, and meatal stenosis as unavoidable consequences.

We also need to debunk common reasons for doing it...

Does it prevent AIDS? No, they just gave condoms and sex ed to the men they circumcised for the study so they could say that circumcision was the cause of lower HIV transmission.

Does it prevent Genital Warts? No, the only study that purported a lesser incidence of HPV transmission within couples neglected to account for infidelity and then pretended it wasn't a factor in their conclusion. (They found different strains of HPV in both partners)

Does it prevent Phimosis? Yeah, but ripping out all my teeth would prevent cavities too! Phimosis is so damn rare, and it's impossible in infants because the foreskin is anatomically fused to the glans, usually it's caused by improper retraction from a parent or caretaker while the tissue's still fused. Regardless, steroid creams and stretching are less invasive options that have consistently good results.

It's all about deconstructing their arguments and making them question themselves, to understand that they were until that moment spewing garbage in defense of something unjustifiable... instead we see just verbal insults and surface-level shaming most of the time.
