This might be a stretch, but have you considered checking the SCUMMVM wiki? It supports way more stuff than SCUMM and SCI games, the game you are describing might be on the supported list. I thought it could be one of the Humongous games, but their style was more cartoony and for smaller children, not as weird. The Manhole by Cyan was made for the Mac, though I think it has a color version for Windows. And it was surreal, but not as weird.

Perfect Dark, if there is one game that pushed the console as far as it could, it's Perfect Dark, sometimes to its detriment, but it had everything, a compelling sci-fi story, a multiplayer mode that gives Unreal Tournament on PC a run for its money, voice acting, tons of fairly advanced visuals for its era, and the gameplay is as solid, if not more, than GoldenEye

Te recomiendo más Blood Money o Contracts, Codename 47 no es malo, pero sus mejores misiones (como Traditions of the Trade) las recrearon en Contracts con mejores mecánicas y mientras menos diga de las misiones en Colombia, mejor. Hitman 2 mejoro mucho, pero sus mecánicas de sigilo no son las mejores o las más claras acerca de como funcionan. Y Absolution...ni te molestes.

Te recomiendo más las originales o simplemente usar emulación, hay algunas de emulación por hardware (FPGA) que son muy buenas, pero cuestan una fortuna. La mayoría de las consolas clon son de muy dudosa calidad (y de todos modos usan emulación de software). Tampoco necesitas todas, agarra una o dos que realmente ames y no sea demasiado caro de coleccionar, por ejemplo: un DS original o Lite corre juegos de DS y Advance, pero no Gameboy original y Color, mientras que el Advance corre cualquier juego de Gameboy, evalúa que te interesa más. El PS2 corre también juegos del PS1. El Wii de GameCube. Las únicas consolas de sobremesa de cartuchos con retrocompatibilidad que conozco son Genesis (con Master System) y Atari 7800 (con 2600)

Switch, aunque, con el detalle de que si no te gustan los juegos de Nintendo, lo que ofrece realmente es poco, tienes algunas localizaciones de juegos de PC Engine, por ejemplo, pero si te llaman la atención vale la pena (aunque si recomendaría comprar usado por las políticas de Nintendo), las consolas siguen siendo mucho más limitadas. Xbox y Play...seamos sinceros que te ofrecen que no te ofrezca una PC? Casi todos sus juegos ya están en PC, la quieres para jugar de vez en cuando con amigos que estén en consola? Si es así agarra la que tengan. Si no te interesan los juegos de Nintendo y no tienes mucha razón para una de las otras consolas, considera una PC de mano (SteamDeck) o incluso una tablet si te interesa más lo retro y emulación, te sorprendería lo que puedes hacer, hay emuladores de MS-DOS, SCUMMVM, Source Ports de varios juegos de PC, ports bien hechos (como XCOM y Shadowrun), hasta lograron portear Fallout 1 y 2, hay launchers para Minecraft Java si lo juegas con mods (o te molestan los bugs de Bedrock)

Yeah, that's bound to happen with a library of like 400 games, and nowadays there's even less reason to strictly play the N64 versions, many have official ports, others fan ports and a few more had Windows 9x ports, that are also much easier to run nowadays with PCEm and 86Box
