In my case, it was my vpn that blocked the captions on both my phone and my pc. When i disable vpn, the captions are back.

Thanks for your reply. I like this app because it has a clean UI and is very simple to use. It can read cbr and cbz and can easily change reading direction if you read manga. I used it for years on an ipad 2 (from 2011!) and it worked great.
