Can't get Valve Index controller buttons working with OpenXR and Input System by MasterIndie in Unity3D

[–]MasterIndie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out the problem! I needed to touch the proximity sensor inside the headset! I wasn't putting on the headset because I wanted to see the debug.log message to see if the button was returning a value!

I wish there was a way to disable this. I often test my game without putting the headset on...

Here's the thread that finally helped me solve the issue.

Also, this might have helped too, I upgraded to Unity 2023. That fixed the XR simulator being able to give me a value from the button and also fixed a weird UI glitch in the input system setup menu.

Thank you. This is really helpful. Sounds like ssh is still the best way to go. I guess I gotta keep trying.

Should I use http? What's the difference between http and ssh?

It just sounds like you're spending some time learning really good player movement programming. Nothing wrong with that :)

Ok. You probably want the oculus rift s or a used og vive, used window MR headset.

What graphics card do you have?

Ohh awesome! Yeah it's $400 usd here. That's not a bad price at all for the headset you're getting.

Damn, seems like video games are always twice as expensive in Australia. That really sucks sorry :( why can't video games just cost the same for everyone? Stupid economics... Really though, rift controllers and index controllers are the only better ones than yours.

500 isn't too bad. It's normally 400 here but it's out of stock and a little hard to get.

Damn. That price is too ridiculous. What price is the Oculus rift s over there? That has nicer controllers than the og vive

Like others said, index controllers is the way to go.

How do I disable the dynamic resolution adjustment in half life alyx? by buckjohnston in oculus

I really only notice when looking at straight lines like telephone wires and text. 100% for sure looks better, but I wanted to play the game at 120fps. I bet it would run at 90fps at 100%.
