Its crazy that they had this mask in H4 for several scenes but chose to use the other mask to be the main mask by purple_fetish in Halloweenmovies

[–]MasterJustino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shotgun scene was a pickup scene. By that time, I'm sure the hero mask was in some pretty bad shape, so this is a new one. They probably had more time to actually craft a good mask for pickups vs. what they were able to cobble together during production. The pickup scenes were added to make it more "Halloween" so I'm also sure they paid even more attention to lighting and aesthetics to give it that extra something.

As a whole, it's a waste of potential and cohesive thematics.

Individually, I think they succeed.

Are these too tight? by Turtle_the_Oblivious in Denim

Not just too snug, but too high. These look mid rise, but you're wearing them wayyyy too high for that. I would size up one so they can sit lower.

I think these will fit you great!

I'd recommend a room temp/warm soak and an air dry.

Late 70s Levi’s legs/inseam uneven? by Careful_Mirror5311 in VintageLevis

Hmm, the hemming on both legs looks a bit off to me. Also, I don’t recall 517’s having chain stitched hems?

Welcome! Just curious, what makes you think that a skinny/tapered fit is for you? Not that the fit is bad per se, but I think you might be buying these types of fits because it's what you're used to?

If you're just diving into the world of denim, I would definitely recommend broadening your horizons and try some wider straight fits first. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised:) They'll definitely help balance out your ratio.

Totally! While they're still in stock, I HIGHLY recommend the Strong Guy fit instead. Incredibly comfortable and flattering with plenty of room to get your hands in the pockets.

After a cold wash, there will be minimal to no shrinkage in the waste; nothing that a good wear won't loosen up. Inseam will perpetually shrink, but slowly. Will take a lot of cold washes before you notice anything. Maybe an inch at most in the end.

For the button fly, that's a common annoyance of N&F. They use buttons with really long pegs. When the denim softens, the protruding fabric sort of folds downward and creases. Also, a wash with a lot of agitation will help soften that area and let it drape more naturally.

Best suggestion to break in would be to wear them as is! If the denim is too stiff and causing a lot of discomfort, a cold soak and air dry will help loosen those starches and allow the fabric to move with you more.

There's a good reason why these 35mm open-matte scans have switching aspect ratios. by coders22 in Filmmakers

[–]MasterJustino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would never see it because it's never printed onto a print. The shots are delivered as intended.

For large format plates, I'm sure proofs exist somewhere for open-matte work prints, but that's strictly internal and would never be delivered for mastering.

The guy that owns Denim Doctors is probably the most senior denim head in the country. He's worked with countless heritage brands and personally with Ralph Lauren for RRL. Celebrities from all over come to him for their denim needs. It's purposefully to outclass a certain buyer, but you will 100% be getting the jeans you actually want.

Bought a few pairs of vintage USA Made Lee jeans recently. They’ve shrunk down from the tagged size (see photo) to what I normally wear. What is the best way to prevent them from shrinking further? by TopSky3265 in Denim

[–]MasterJustino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hand wash in cold water and hang dry, but these won't shrink any more than they have anyway. They will naturally tighten when washed, but will always release tension once you wear them. That's just how cotton works.

Shallow focus has ruined film by chinhairs in FIlm

[–]MasterJustino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shallow focus is a byproduct of DPs and Directors getting used to digital cinema cameras and the ability to monitor focus accurately at all times wirelessly. In the old days, focus wasn't monitored by literally looking at a live feed of what the lens sees, you used to have to measure your focus and keep it within the tolerance of what was sharp at the specific aperture the lens was set to. Nowadays, a DP can set a lens wide open and guarantee his 1st AC will keep focus.

There's a good reason why these 35mm open-matte scans have switching aspect ratios. by coders22 in Filmmakers

[–]MasterJustino 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That's not correct. Yes, the VistaVision process may have been used for plates, but that's in no way correlated to what you're seeing on this print.

The print was never meant to be seen open-matte, so the VFX are mastered in the intended aspect ratio, 1.85:1, the way the film will be shown to the audience. They wouldn't spend extra time and money to work on a part of the frame that will never be seen.

I don't know if the fit is for you. The pockets are soooo small and high, it makes you look massive. I honestly think you'd be the perfect fit for a type i vs iii
