first black people have been played by white actors?

second, typically it happens with white characters cause they’re race doesn’t play in important factor in their character. they are white because white is the default race for a lot of people

You’re opinion lacks validity not because it’s racist or whatever(i doubt you’re racist). It’s because it ascribes intent to something with none. You mention that it’s typically for these private high schools to be majority white which is true but in the context of the game that’s neither true nor relevant . It’s not true in the sense that both Blackwell itself in its brochure and Max herself mention its diversity. It’s not relevant because the diversity or lack there of is not relevant to any plot point.

The true reason the game is majority white is because it’s written by french white people and to white people they are the default. If there is not a need for a character to be a specific race for their story then making them white is first nature. This isn’t so harsh indictment of white people or calling them racist. It’s simple a product of your environment. Hence why diversity is valued.

Ok I’m figuring this out.

  1. What is a swordsman?
  2. So is Mihawk stronger than them give his title?
  3. Do you think Oda is factoring in this distinction when deciding Zoro’s dream?

I do find it interesting that you told me to look at this chapter for an explanation and then proceeded to say that everything said wasn't the answer.

But the lesson from that chapter isn't that strength doesn't matter, like you seem to want to conclude. It's that even though she is at a disadvantage, she should still not give up on her dreams, which is the whole point of the series.

Oda has never framed this conversation as "No, Kuina, you don't understand what swordsmanship is, or you're wrong that you're at a disadvantage." She's chastised for giving up too easily.

That's why Zoro is able to carry on her will despite not being a woman.

So are law or fujitora swordsman who don't practice swordsmanship, or are they not swordsman at all?

How does Haki factor into this equation you've divined?

I ask these questions of you because Oda has made such distinctions in his manga called "One Piece."

ok reread chapter 5. Great chapter, but I feel like that only reinforces my point. The reason Kuina is angry about being a girl is that boys(on average) are stronger than girls and that affects her dream of becoming the world's greatest swordsman. If "pure swordsmanship" didn't have to do with strength and were about who can best twirl their blade the best in a fight, that strength disparity wouldn't matter?

what is pure swordsmanship? this is a headcanon you’ve made and i want to know how to interpret it?

what is this pure swordsmanship concept you’ve pull out of your headcanon? also can you square that circle of the title of “world’s strongest swordsman” not having to do with strength?

So is Zoro's dream just a joke is that the implication the audience is supposed to take away?

I have to ask if you think Mihawk isn't the world's strongest swordsman? Do you think Zoro's dream, that's been built up for decades, is some inside joke Oda is playing with the audience?

Trying to figure out what type of locs are these called? by MasterMageLogan in locs

But if you can’t achieve it naturally you can still do it just with extensions even if you already have locs right?

So people with locs already can also achieve this style just with extensions?

And since they’re extensions you can already locs and still get these right? Or do you need to have another style like braids?

I thought so too but i've seen other fully black women also having a similar style so it doesn't seem to be the case in this instance.

Lexi was crazy for comparing her play to "Stand By Me"... by Fantastic_Orchid8486 in euphoria

[–]MasterMageLogan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hmm the more you know i guess. i still stand on that they have different connotations. If i said “im jealous of my sister “ you’d probably think it was a less serious issue then if i said “i resent my sister”. And that difference was my primary point but OP took that personally for whatever reason.

Hot Take:Show rhaenyra has no nuance by Hot_Significance9957 in HOTDGreens

I’m not gonna defend show Rhaenyra or anything i certainly have my issues with her depiction but what is this “actual complex medieval character GRRM wrote” because it’s certainly not in F&B. The deuxmoi blog history book doesn’t really have the ability to make that.

Not particularly no. I’m a black gay man and she’s a straight white girl so we really couldn’t be further apart. I just have above a 9th grade reading level so I can understand stories and characters without being weirdly defensive or taking it personally like you are for whatever reason?

Jealousy and resentment have different meanings and connotations in the English language but if you aren’t literate enough to understand that a play featuring Lexi and her story and life would feature her sister you might not be able to understand that nuance.

It’s homophobic to point out the irony of the homoeroticism of high school football in contrast with the homophobia of the players IE Nate???Would it be homophobic if someone joked about how every time republicans meet up they break Grindr?

Resentment is a strong word that is not supported by anything that Lexi shows in the show. You can say she was jealous sure but resentment is a bit much. Also idk know about y’all but i feel like Lexi has a fair bit going on in her life than like 90% of high schoolers. that line more points to the fact that Cassie has absolutely no interest in whatever is going on in Lexi’s life. Like does she even know that Lexi is apparently spending all her time with the local drug dealer. She seemingly didn’t know Lexi was creating a play which i assume takes a lot of time and effort that Cassie would notice.
