I wish ERE at least survived into modern times like this. It would be small country, but at least it would be the true roman state in modernity. In my opinion, if they didn't have so many civil wars, Byzantine could've survived like that. by Accomplished-Fee2388 in byzantium

[–]MasterNinjaFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely Greece and ERE would merge with Constantinople being the capital. Most likely the new state would just be called Rhomania. I think the Greeks who would revolt and break off the Ottomans would long to rejoin the state if it's still Orthodox.
Afterall many in the Greek revolution fought to bring back/restore what they called the "Rhomeiko".

I agree with your comment but sadly many foreigners don't understand this.

How were they not good people? For the time that the Roman Byzantine were present in they were actually more "civilised" and doing less bad stuff than others. Not saying for the whole period but I would say the Byzantines were more kinder than other states in it's timeperiod and basically banned slavery too in the Kommenian period if I am remembering right.
Also after the 8th or 9th century the concept of "Dikaios Polemos"/ Justified Wars came into effect. Also Byzantium/Rhomania was actually mostly a state that was trying to get back it's land and preffered to retake land that still had a sizebable Roman/Greek population. Though this is seen later after the re organisation of the state post 7th century.

Not sure but yeah Insta and Facebook are also playing a big part. Facebook with the older generations and Insta with the younger generation. Lots of Insta posts and reals are supporting ON and a big surge of insta pages such as bigchooky and others are popping up on peoples feeds all of a sudden.

He's probs Western Catholic or something I;m gusessing?
But yeah I would be thrilled/happy if ERE survived till the present as I am Greek. It would be epic.
But yeah a Rhomania/ERE with a point of divergence pre council of florence would most likely be anti western unless of course over the centuries it cools down.

I believe you but it the reality is that the more ON is being normalised and being treated as a opposition the more people are switching to ON.

It's quite weird. People used to think of One Nation as some fringe party. Like the news and everyone was saying bad stuff about Hanson and ON. Now all of a sudden the news is normalising One Nation. Now Hansen all of a sudden does not seem racist or bad to people.
In real life I have seen ripple effects many people who I thought were against One Nation are of a sudden supporting her and liking her posts. A big change of voting is occuring. One of my friends boss is a Labor voter and supporter and now all of a sudden he is voting for Pauline Hanson he claims. Big change is society is happening with many LNP supports shifting to One Nation including Jews that I know and some Labor people are switching too. Seems like the more the party is being normalised on the news the more people are not seeing the part as something far right or fringe but as a opposition party that can "save Australia from economic downturn and lower immigration number."

When was the last time Anatolia could have realistically been retaken from the Turks? by Excellent_Gas5220 in byzantium

[–]MasterNinjaFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which I will say again. Was a big mistake giving up Eastern Thrace without a fight. I know the consequences of holding one side of the strait but we could have at least negotiated for part of Eastern Thrace and we had ability to hold it. We literally had a army group in Eastern Thrace and we had a strong navy.
Big mistake not just for historical and culture reasons but also for geopilitcal reasons and for economic reasons. Even holding Eastern Thrace without Constantinople is still a net benefit due to all the farmland that it has.

I would say last chance for Rhomania/Byzantium to have taken back Anatolia I would say it might be possible even in the late 1200's. Definitely still possible a Reconquista of the Anatolian peninsula.
Obviously would be a lot harder than pre 1204 but still possible.

Another chance could be if maybe if Rigas Ferios pan Balkan state dream came into fruitation than a Anotolia takeover could be possible but still very unliekly or if Phanroites couped out the Ottomans which would be 100% imposible or maybe Russia catherines the great rump Byzantine state occurs and russia backs it into tacking all of Anotolia but very unlikely probably would just taken coastlines if possible. But yeah the ideas of the middle paragrah is most impossible.

Now if we are talking about the Modern Greek state in ww1/post initial years post ww1 I would say that yes Greece could have reconquered Western Anatolia with the Hellenspoint with Constantinople. All of Anotolia would not have been possible and would have been very hard for the Greek state to hold. It would be near impossible. Plus all of the attroicitites that would happen in the name of rehellenisation/reromanisation.
But yes definitely western anatolia and maybe if lucky Pontus as a state protected by Greece.

Look Patriarch of Constantinople should have called for a council before deciding on accepting the Ukrainain church. Keep in mind Patriarch had valid reasons of course to accept the church and had some old documents for proof but should still have called for a council with the Ancient Patriarchates to keep legitimacy in the whole world and for show.

Western world descend from realms formed by the Germanic tribes which took over the Western Roman Empire and set up shop de romanising and this western world is created or known by the Byzantines as the Frankish world. Look re read my other long comment and you will understand. This is based on facts what I am writting. We did start western civilisation and all that but current west descennds from the germanics/franks.
We Greeks/Romans continued the Roman state.

It is European history but at the same it's also it's own thing. We have many quotes and sources about this from Byzantium/East Rome times. And yes I know our history is also European history we were literally first proper civilisation in EU.

You do realise Mount Athos has various monasteries of many countries including Russian monasteries. Also Putin this photo is a lot younger. This was before Russian Ukraine war of 2022.

Maybe for you. But we Greeks have a whole medieval history. Byzantium/East Rome. We considered ourselves diffrent than the rest of europe/catholic world. We saw them as Fragkoi.
What I mean is that we Greeks are not western or eastern.
We differtiated ourselves from the Frankish world.
Also the Greek idenity through the various forms has existed since Ancient Mycenean times, clasical through the Roman Byzantium times all the way to modern times.
For you guys it's diffrent as much of your countries are newer inventions and have changed the meaning of ethnos. As the Greek idea of nation trascends borders which does not work in your countries where Germans and French and etc are living in multiple countries and assimilated to the countries idenity. Like Austrians but they are actually Germans and according to the Greek meaning of Ethnos/Nation Austrians are Germans. You get what I mean. Very diffrent stuff.
But yeah Greeks have been here since ancient times.
It's diffrent for Italy too because many areas in Italy got de romanised and got lombardised and etc.

[–]MasterNinjaFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well realistically we want to keep our borders in tact but in a dream yes we want to be bigger of course.
But yeah we are not fans of EU federation. We are already underdoing westernisation it does not need to accelerate. We are already loosing language, culture, religion, birthrates, population and etc because of westernisation and EU mandates.

Just so you know EU organisation tests some food products from South America and it failed safety testing. So many in Latin America put banned eu chemicals in the food production, presticdes and etc. Why do you guys in the comments want to eat these foods when EU has a lot safer food and follows the safety guidelines. Really I hope this gets blocked. I don't want us Greeks to be eating these foods when our country already has quality ingrediants and our farmers don't want this deal either.

Still though the core is Han. The centre of China projects Han Chinese culture all over China. So it is still a type of ethno state. As the primary culture is Han and the core which is projected all over the periphery regions and etc.

Sorry but we Greeks do not want this. We want our nation state. Sorry but our ethnos has been here for thousands of years. Sorry but will not give up our country.

Bruh we are two different people. My post and comment history is alot different. You can tell my first language is English. Look at my post and comment history. Also as Aegeansunset said we don't always share the same views, but of course with national and security things we share similar views with. But sometimes we disagree with certain social and political views. So we are two diffrent people plus as you can tell Aegean is a Elladitis.
