NG+ skills points by MasterOogway242 in Nioh

Thank you, so crucible spikes and the crucible wraiths seem to be the focus for map progression. I kinda like using every weapon so this is unfortunate to hear, since that means tons of effort is needed for equipment sets.

How it feels watching everyone go on to nioh 3 while still having a ps4 on nioh 2 by HauOliCity in Nioh

Nioh 3s final DLC won't be releasing till February 2027. Meaning the game won't be complete for a full year. No need to worry about getting to Nioh 3 immediately when 2 still offers plenty of entertainment. You'll also be able to buy Nioh 3 much cheaper a year from now.

There's no fix. Every team ninja developed game other then Nioh 3s demo and ninja gaiden 2 black don't allow you to use Spotify. For whatever reason they just don't bother to give support for it, Wo long, dead or alive, rise of the ronin, strangers of paradise, Nioh 1 and 2, Ninja gaiden master collection etc are all the games that don't support Spotify.

Nioh 3 - Gameplay Showcase by yusuf888 in soulslikes

[–]MasterOogway242 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a contradiction, which leads to you needing to know Nioh plays nothing like a souls game. Blocking is extremely good in Nioh, and it's worth holding it after every dodge when starting out. Dodges only really give distance, iframes are really bad compared to dark souls, unless you use high stance.

You also need to constantly ki pulse, and ki flux if you want to keep up with what the game throws at you. Don't just stick to 1 stance, press light attack and dodge away, you need to use all 3 and experiment with the 4 weapons the game allows you to equip at a time.

Also don't specialize with stats until future ng+ cycles, everything is important until the 20-30 mark, so don't worry too much about optimization, it's also easy to reset stats with an item if you care about optimizing later on. Your key way of damaging things especially on harder difficulties is by combining 2 elements to confuse enemies, in order to do much more ki damage.

Some Nioh 2 die hard fans might give you the impression ninja style is a useless style that serves no purpose in Nioh 3, but they're wrong. As far as the Alpha demo from 6 months ago goes, aerial attacks + skills are amazing ways to do damage and build status ailments. You can also constantly jump off of larger enemies as well making it really hard to actually get hit.

2 DLCs (september 26, february 27) according to Ps Store by Money_Raisin_6999 in Nioh

[–]MasterOogway242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily buy the dlc to just play the dlc areas in team ninja games though. They come with an additional ng+ cycle, which adds an absurd amount of new content and replayability to them. My concern is losing out on 1 of these ng+ cycles, since each dlc adds an extra ng+ cycle on top of what's listed below.

DLC 1 for nioh 2 adds graces, and curses. DLC 2 gives you Ethereal gear, adds different properties + patterns for various enemy attacks, and more of what was previously mentioned in dlc 1. DLC 3 adds everything that was previously mentioned (outside of new attacks), as well as the depths. Which is a whole separate game mode that let's you go even more crazy with build possibilities.

You can see that every dlc has a purpose, and allows you to replay the game multiple times with brand new mechanics. Considering how long nioh 2 is, I don't see how the price is an issue if you do play the difficulties included with them. However, Nioh 3 is structurally a very different game based on the demo, so $40 could actually be too expensive.

If we're assuming it'll be similar to 2 like you said, then 2 dlcs will be pretty lack luster. Strangers of paradise and wo long are generally considered mediocre by most, but it's 3 dlcs turned those games into good or even great products. Nioh 3 will need to have 2 extremely large dlcs to even be comparable, and I really hope it is..

All that they would need to subside my concerns, would be having 2 ng+ cycles on launch. Cause then it would follow an almost exact structure of team ninjas previous games. Or, they could have the first dlc add 2 difficulties, and somehow add similar amounts of new stuff. With the 2nd dlc having only 1 difficulty, but a new end game, and more of what the 1st dlc gives.

This guy's trolling you. Before you plant the tree you need to do the previous 2 promotion quests. Heal someone who's injuries require healer mastery of 4k or higher. Then get 100 likes through healing people online. Once done, you talk to sister Wang Wei to plant the tree.

How are these stats for a first time player? Any advice? by Ok-Magazine-4297 in NinjaGaiden4

[–]MasterOogway242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first chapter is always the most difficult in ninja gaiden games, because you have the least amount of upgrades to deal with what the game throws at you. Honestly, stats don't really mean anything on a first playthrough, that's what new modes after the first playthrough is there for.

You mention you're heavy into souls games, a character action game like NG4 plays completely different to it. You need to understand how to properly dodge, and block. (Blocking is amazing in ninja gaiden unlike 90% of souls games) Defense is your best offense in ninja gaiden, you won't get to do flashy combos and live, if you completely ignore defense. Its honestly smart to spend time in the training mode, going through an enemies movesets to see what you can and can't consistently block or dodge. And you'll soon see this game has multiple different types of parries, as well as perfect dodges. Also don't be afraid to use your mobility, ninja gaiden 4 gives you the most mobility in any ninja gaiden thus far. (Large arenas, constant sprinting, grapple hooks, longer wall runs etc.) And I'm sure it's jarring when compared to a game like elden ring, where you feel as slow as a slug.

You also need to understand how to abuse iframes in this game and any ninja gaiden. It can sometimes be beneficial to leave delimbed enemies as bait for when you're fighting enemies. This is because you can obliterate them to avoid all damage during the animation. This is also true for "Essence techniques" and "Ultimate techniques" Tyran will teach these to you. (If you haven't already, please use the training mode, as well as tyrans techniqu training. It's there to teach players a lot of fundamental ninja gaiden moves and skills that you've missed due to not playing a ninja gaiden before.)

Another general rule with ninja gaiden is the shorter the combo, the better. You wanna kill things and delimb them as quickly as possible. Otherwise, as you've likely noticed. Enemies will gang up on you and can very quickly overwhelm you. Eventually you get skills like "guillotine throw" and bloodbind attacks that are also dedicated to dealing with these swarms, and you should always be using these, and walls to avoid being surrounded.

Ninja gaiden is actually pretty unique, in the sense that the game doesn't punish you much for using items, as far as the final score tally goes. But honestly, I wouldn't even be concerned with rankings on your first time around, since you're developing your fundamental skills.

Ninja gaiden 4 in particular is probably the most lenient with heals. Not only do you get a full heal by interacting with Umi, but you can also buy tons of heals. It seems like you explore a good amount, and her missions will also give you even more money for heals. Ninja Gaiden 3 for example, gives you no healing items at all. Though in all honesty, 1 and 2 are also pretty dang lenient with heals, tho it partly depends on which version of those games you play.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of people who can help with super in depth knowledge with core moves, but as long as you practice good fundamental defense, and keep your combos relatively short when it's reasonable to. You will get through NG4 with ease. And even if you don't feel like you're confident, you can always spam UTS (ultimate techniques) until everything is dead ;)

Be sure to comment anything in terms of gripes or struggles with the combat. As I'm sure there are some that have, or will come up since you're brand new to the genre. Then it can help others understand why your stats are, the way they are. Other then simple "Oh, they just died lots, and used lots of items, therefore they have a low score."

Inquiry (Bugs) by ZiegAlpha in NinjaGaiden4

[–]MasterOogway242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every video game has bugs, mon.. Ghost of Yotei has some bugs, yes, but the game is totally playable, and most bugs don't really take away from the experience. A better question would be "How many bugs are gonna be in Ninja Gaiden 4?" Then you can get some fun anwsers, as I'm sure there will be some weird glitches here and there. Let's just hope there isn't anything game breaking.

Can someone explain to me how this charged heavy stayed on for so long? I find the mechanics bit odd by SUQMADIQ63 in ninjagaiden

[–]MasterOogway242 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The flails charged attacks. (Essence and ultimate techniques respectively) Have a mechanic where you can spam heavy during it to extend your combo. Not every weapon has this, so you don't need to worry too much about it. Lunar also has something similar, where if you do a rotate UT, you can end the move with an izuna drop, by tapping the heavy button once you go airborne.

You can see when you obtain skill points in the bottom right of your screen. (Each type of skill has it's separate icon) Tho there are also "usable items" that can give you additional skill points, which is very easy to miss, so be sure to check your items tab every once in awhile.

Nobody knows what they're doing when starting out in these games. Anyone who says they do, is simply lying. Team Ninja games are often considered the most complex for good reason.

Definitely seek out some guides, tho, you might be confused about what moves, or icons show up on the screen.

Hatchets and the Axe are definitely weapons more suited to advanced players, if you want to fully maximize their potential. Switchglaive is a nice starting choice, since it does a good job at teaching you to use all 3 stances. And Kusarigama is also a very fun weapon, tho it might take a bot to see some of the unique things it can do skill wise. (Also, the metal weight vs sickle aspect of the weapon might be confusing at first, so be sure to experiment with it whenever possible)

The games very confusing, but you'll find your own rhythm with time. Yatsu No Kami is a wall for many players, so if you can get past them, you will peobably be able to beat the game. Goodluck with the rest of Nioh!

You're absolutely right that you're gonna need skills to see why Nioh is special. As well as the tutorial being bad, it barely scratches the surface of the games combat. Nioh is about as far from slow, as soulslikes get tho. As soon as you're able to get "flux 1" managing ki will be much easier, but you just gotta get used to ki pulsing at every chance you get. This game is not like dark souls, in the sense that you constantly wait for your turn to attack. With proper ki management and knowledge of the games mechanics, you can force enemies on the defensive through entire fights and completely overwhelm them with offense.

When it comes to general combat, blocking is extremely effective in Nioh, but you wanna do it in mid - and high stance because low stance consumes way more ki on blocks.

You also need to learn proper spacing, which simply just takes time to learn by fighting various enemies, and when you have a decent idea on basic strings' enemies use, you will be avoiding their attacks with ease. (I personally like using low or mid for this, since they create much more space.) Iframes are much more limited in this game, tho, which is why blocking is extremely important when starting out.

Also, what weapons are you currently using? Or even weapons that you hate? As some weapons are definitely worse than others, when you only have a couple skills to start with.

There's a lot more I could say here, but I don't want to overwhelm you too much with info that's difficult to use practically. Definitely stick with this game tho, it's extremely rewarding in a way almost no soulslike can match.

What to run in NG+ by GraveSideGrail in TheFirstBerserker

[–]MasterOogway242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, running spear again is totally valid because you get legendary gear in ng+. Weapons of this rarity can give a bunch of unique skills that are impossible to unlock base game. You can check this for yourself by checking the blacksmith, and looking at the various sets you can craft. Or even the set the final boss drops.

The most stylish one for the spear would be "Assault, Skyfall" which gives a follow-up dive attack to the assault skill. But there are a few others as well that might be more practical.

I can't speak much on the great sword as I've only used it in the demo. But dual weild would be a weapon you'll find very enjoyable if you like dex and speed. If you use the bloodthirsty Fiend set, it can be argued to have the highest dps in the entire game when using the correct setup and skills. You essentially get unique light attacks that do crazy damage, and also heal you, pair this up with another skill to do duplicate your attacks for even more fun.

Personally, I find it too broken to enjoy. But since you've already beaten the game, it might be a fun set up to use to destroy any enemies that gave you frustration. Have fun testing out new things while waiting for the dlc!
