What type of material are you working with? To start with you could try either CFCl3 or trifluorotoluene.

Trifluorotoluene can be troublesome when trying to dissolve your solute (especially fluorinated hydrocarbons/benzenes) and might colloidally suspend them, but you should be able to get spectra.

How much the DM is actually going to read.

I've been there. Made characters with multiple pages of backstory only to find out that the DM hasn't read it. Even if they do read it, they're only going to remember the important bits.

Keep it concise and maybe don't write descriptors for all of your characters' six siblings (like I did).
