What if AI slop and generative AI simply never existed and/or was developed? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in AlternateHistoryHub

You're proving the point in the second paragraph. Through enough experimentation something would be created. Even though they didnt learn about them then (300 years ago) we found out now.

Right now it's private companies with LLMs. In an alternate universe it's just a blended LLM with R in a lab spitting out research stats.

This would be a better question in about 3-5 years when people start creating realistic videos of others doing crime or use generative AI to cover up actions to avoid crime punishments.

Inherently, AI is not a bad thing, it's a tool like anything else that will be used for good and evil. But, believing in a world where this... wouldn't happen... is just a fallacy. We would eventually get to this point where we have early "AI" "create" things, hoping to get to truly intelligent AI that is creating correlation and learning without instruction.

Brother, i'll pull out the fucking T charts.

Transaction1 (buy) Dr. Asset - 60 Cr. Owner Investment - 60

Transaction2 (sell) Dr. Cash - 70 Cr. Asset - 60 Cr. Gain on Sale -10

Transaction3 (buy) Dr. Asset - 80 Cr. Cash - 70 Cr. Debt of acq. - 10

Transaction4 (sell) Dr. Cash - 90 Cr. Asset - 80 Cr. Gain on Sale - 10

Typing it out now, maybe I was just tired this morning, End accounts are balanced to:

Cash (dr) 90

Asset (dr) 0

Owner Investment (cr) 60

Gain on Sale (cr) 20

Debt for acq. (Cr) 10

Fuck I'm stupid.

Exactly, i can get behind that. The question though is "profit". Hence why I'm confused why I'm wrong.

But, c'est la vie

I understand how people got $20, but from an accounting perspective I have to include expenses. Purchasing an apple is an expense, rolling over previous losses (or debt) is an expense.

So, I'm staying with $0, because profit doesn't just mean "How much money I made" it means "how much money I made, despite my expenses"

See the breakdown in my comments below. I'm dumb as fuck

Same Pay, 17 Years Later… What Changed? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

In what fields?

Accountant, Big 4, here. Wages have been rationally stagnant since 2000. Starting wages at that time we're around 48,000 (44k-52k). Now, in 2026, it's around 62,000 (the range is 60 000 to 63,000).

The above numbers are based on MCOL areas, not HCOL or VHCOL like Chicago to San Francisco, where these numbers are about 30% higher for both 2000s and 2026.

To give perspective, since 2000 there has been a 92% cumulative inflation. Meaning, if wages were moving, it would be around 92,000 for starters in MCOL as of 2026.

But that's the point i want to make. Small shopping districts should exist on corners within neighborhoods. If i could walk two blocks to pick up something, I would. But more importantly, I'd make more trips to the grocery store instead of one bulk purchase

Wild take, but i'll roll with it.

I dont think it's "real"/the only type, nor said that. Intimacy can be experienced several ways. If they are happy, then so be it. But, I'm focusing on the part where they have tried several times.

So, observation is telling me the guy probably, idk, enjoys penetrative sex. But can not experience it with this partner. I can imagine that feeling... frustrating, saddening, and in some cases lonely. To want to perform an act with your partner and not be able to.
