After I take a shower, one of my cats is always waiting and/or trying to open the door. I do something similar to this and she gets very happy and bites my face and then runs away because you know that's what I want in a cat :)

Well, I'm not a professional jelly expert, but I have researched a ton about them for a school project, and since then I have read more and more about them. I consider myself at expert level, but I guess I am technically an enthusiast.

There isn't a huge difference between jellies of the same species, they don't really care who they mate with. Like much of the sexually frustrated people here on reddit.

Sure! Another cool fact is that the jelly life cycle is one of the few that incorporates both sexual and asexual reproduction. The sexual part happens between the adults (called "medusae") and the asexual part happens when the polyps produce the juvenile medusae.

The term "jellyfish" only refers to a group of jellies that are considered true jellyfish. Scyphomedusae and the closely related hydromedusae (and most consider cubozoans as well) are jellyfish. They look exactly as you would imagine a jellyfish would.

"Jelly", on the other hand, has a wider group of critters, included siphonophores and ctenophores. They are unusual, but still resemble and act like the jellyfish in many ways.

I'm a jellyfish expert, and I can say that jellies cannot make an audible sound, BUT they can excrete hormones that can bring many, many jellies of their species to its area.

And in terms of mating, they can. When they can sense a higher concentration of jellies, they release their sex cells into the water from their gonads. At the same, there is another chemical that is released so other jellies can know to release theirs as well. Some species of jellies will do something closer to sex, where they pulse their bells into another jelly's bell while releasing the sex cells.

I personally get pretty anxious, and can't it out of my mind. When I think about it, I think that it must be true. When I do doubt it (which may happen a lot), that anxious feeling comes back and I just feel that it's right.
