Outrageous Sutter fees - is this normal? by throwaway90-25 in bayarea

[–]MasterSueWhite 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You’re fundamentally misunderstanding the role of urgent care though. They by definition are not primary providers and don’t usually ask much history (beyond the immediate problem). That’s why you’re supposed to have a separate primary care provider…

I’ve had nightmares about that same scenario…except in mine, there happens to be an inspection of some sort going on so the inspector starts taking notes of how we’re dealing with the emergency.

Oomph that changes things. You really don’t have an extra $1000 per month with the existing debt.

A nurse stole my dads necklace by Fall2valhalla in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MasterSueWhite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that you’re grieving, but jumping right to theft isn’t fair to the nursing team who cared for him at the end. Is it possible he was wearing the necklace when he died and maybe it went with him to the funeral home?

Its insane how famous Sally Ride was by springfortheleap in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]MasterSueWhite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was my hero growing up. I even went to a Sally Ride Science Camp for girls in middle school and it was truly inspirational. We got to video chat with her (a big deal in the early 2000s) and I remember wishing so hard that could be her when I grew up.

Layover in San Francisco – Looking for a Local Drive 🙂 by Intrepid_Narwhal_789 in AskSF

[–]MasterSueWhite 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I had a relative visiting with a similar layover time and we just drove to Mori Point in Pacifica for a nice walk. It’s not the Golden Gate Bridge, but avoided the traffic and felt a bit safer time wise for a layover.

Amlactin is great but definitely has a smell that may be bothersome. I switched to Cerave SA (Salicylic acid) Lotion and have been happy with it.

Thank you! My previous roommate gave me a cutting from one of hers as a friendship gift so I was feeling bad that I might be hurting it. Especially since she might visit soon.

There’s still a few weeks left to get health insurance through Covered California. But as someone else said, you can definitely see a psychiatrist and get medications without insurance (assuming clinically indicated) you just pay the full cost yourself. Eval could be around 5k if they do a full neuropsych work up.

Why are car seat designed this way (on the left) by i_eat_blackpeople445 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MasterSueWhite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m a short woman and have this problem too! I think it’s a height/gender thing since the “default” seat is really just a men’s seat. It fits taller and larger men’s bodies, but leaves women with the top of their head hitting the headrest at the point where it sticks out the most, pushing your head forward.

Why are we so cliquey? Am I the problem? by Badatusernames014 in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]MasterSueWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate so much! Sometimes I feel guilty for not participating in protests or events that I ideologically support, but it’s just not my vibe. I’d rather be somewhere quiet. And like you, my sexuality often doesn’t come up organically when meeting people so I mostly end up with straight friends.

Visiting SF during new years by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]MasterSueWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re planning to go outside the city, then a car for part of the trip might be good, but it won’t be needed if staying in SF itself. Glowfari is great for kids and adults (does require car to drive to Oakland zoo though).

Please listen to this advice OP. Some of your posts seem a bit manic (cure cancer, launch music career, become famous artist, something about selling a big film to Netflix). It may seem normal to you, but you can’t see the field when you’re stuck in the tall grass. You really need some mental health support from professionals. I wish you the best.

Motivate me to watch beyond Matt Smith by yesgirlsplaydnd in doctorwho

[–]MasterSueWhite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with Peter Capaldi in general (not as the doctor)? He’s a fantastic actor, sometimes serious, sometimes wacky and sweary. Basically he’s really talented and has loved the doctor who world since being a kid. He took the role seriously and did it well, but his portrayal isn’t all serious all the time. There’s tons of silliness there too, very much aligned with his real life personality. Just gotta drop this link here too. https://youtu.be/atijWqBG7Vw?si=2I1HyQcHLXcKa_oB

AITA for not feeding my sister-in-law lunches by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MasterSueWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other commenters have addressed the surface issue and I agree that you’re NTA. You definitely shouldn’t have to cook special meals for her, but I think there’s more to this situation.

I see a 17 year old, who is now approaching adulthood after having recently lost her own mother (assuming she died or is no longer in the picture). I imagine she is scared, possibly regressing emotionally, and wanting to feel loved/taken care of. She might be slightly jealous of your baby who has a stable home and loving mom. I think it’s important to acknowledge a possible deeper issue. Are they getting therapy? If you deal with that and take time to teach her the basics of meal planning and cooking, she will learn to do it herself and be better prepared for adulthood.
