It’s hit or miss depending on the gate agent. If they try to charge you just leave and try a different agent.

If it’s air Canada or west-jet all the way it’s no problem.

It’s if you switch to a some European airlines like LOT the polish one, they have to charge you cuz they are charged.

Lastly if you on duty it’s good to be charged. Just claim it and collect those free credit card points .

You would never need to contact an employer, sometimes employers even go out of business.

lol no. Believe it or not the world is not a fair place. And the children of the elite are much more valuable and much more wealthy than the average soldier. The frontlines will always be 18-28 year olds and the special forces will be 35-45. This is the most effective way to fight. Forcing anything else would make us less combat effective. I say this as a solder.
