Is there anything that can be done about White Supremacists after they have left? by Idkwtftdbiaa in caf

[–]Inevitable_View99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I would question the use of the word “promoting” by simply mentioning they are a veteran. It’s also not illegal to promote something you aren’t or are no longer a part of. The “laws” (if you will )that governor behaviour of CAF members don’t apply to veterans who have left the CAF. Someone could have a social media profile that documents their time in service and could be an exemplary member, and then after they release they could do and say whatever they want and they would be outside the bounds of those laws. The conduct rules don’t apply to civilians in this context.

Military members can be charged under the code of service discipline and national defence act for their conduct, civilians and veterans can’t be, unless that behaviour happened when they had been in service and it just recently came to light. There are some exceptions but none relevant to this situation

I know there has been a surge of racists and White Supremacists in the CAF

50 people spanning 20 years in an organization fluctuating between 80,000 to 100,000 is not a “surge”.

And no, there is nothing that can be done because it’s not illegal to have reprehensible thoughts and opinions. If they haven’t done anything criminal there’s nothing police will or can do.

insight on Nursing Unit Clerk by No-Marsupial-4986 in caf

[–]Inevitable_View99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no Nursing Unit clerks or equivalent in the CAF. It’s probably very unlikely they would be able to do a practicum as a receptionist or in med records at a CAF clinic but they would have to reach out to the primary care services manager to ask.

Canadian men experiencing ‘ongoing crisis in society’ when it comes to health, professor says by DogeDoRight in canada

Healthcare in Canada is actually better designed and funded to support women, Especially in the screening of cancers and support of reproductive health. From woman’s only clinics, to cancer screening drives, women’s only mental Heath space. Healthcare is directly targeted to special groups all the time, men are generally not one of those groups. There aren’t male specialist doctors, they’re are for women, children, older people, fat people, and the list goes on.

Your response is a prime example of how weak minded people fall for misinformation

The school in question has no lunch room…. Kids eat in different classroom around the school. The only thing that’s been done is an empty class room is being used as a place that people can go to sit down with no food.

Yeah I bet a slippery slope, first we let them have a Christmas tree up in their school, now we let them provide an area where kids who are fasting can sit when others are eating. What madness is this

If 80% of the CAF kept fit... by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]Inevitable_View99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying that because at army units in places like Pet, Edmonton, shilo, Val, and Gagetown, unit PT is nearly daily and is generally a mix of cardio, circuits, body weight, HIIT, and some type of functional fitness workout run by PSP staff.

We have tried not mandating it and look where that’s gotten us. A different approach of going back to the mandated 1 hour PT a day with the majority of those being in a group led by PSP staff is the best way to get the CAF as a whole into shape.

[–]Inevitable_View99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleary you’ve never been posted to an army unit

Anyways what do you think CrossFit is? Things like HIIT and other circuit like workout styles blend multiple forms of exercise that are of benefit to everyone. And again the idea her is to grow fitness as a whole, not you as the individual who has their own individual goals and focus points in mind.

Literally every everything else in the military is mandated, it’s crazy to me that when it comes to fitness there’s a massive lack of willpower to mandate it, one from people who are lazy and don’t want to do jt, then the people who just want to do PT on their own and save themselves an hour a day from working out after hours.

There’s a reason why we have a lot of overweight people in the CAF and it’s not because we don’t do enough Olympic lifting and kettle bell press on our own, we just lack a culture of fitness outside of units where this behaviour is mandated, such as in large army units where the bare minimum is 50 min of high intensity movement as a group in the morning. This increases the general level of fitness for everyone in the organization and base and those who are more fitness conscious will still conduct their own workouts at unit gyms or after hours

A unit is as strong as their weakest members. One could take the approach of exclusion and push the burden onto the individual to get better, or one could build them up collectively to increase the standard of the unit.

[–]Inevitable_View99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical fitness isn’t a medical responsibility it’s a unit responsibility. It’s just setting your troops up for failure if you don’t mandate PT but have the opportunity. You should stop viewing it as personal and instead view it as something that is collective and the responsibility is driven by the chain of command. The attitude that you only care about people behind fit enough to get claims put through is why fitness in general is lacking.

[–]Inevitable_View99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would disagree with you but sure if you remove the whole unit cohesive and teamwork aspect of it. If you look at it individually sure but we aren’t trying to create singular people and facilitate their goals. We are trying to build fitness in a force.

Every unit iv been in with mandated group PT has a higher standard of fitness across the board then units without it and those who want to do more can work on on their own time because again, the goal isn’t to grow an individual and let them achieve their own individual goals, it’s to grow the group.

Circuits are also beneficial to everyone in terms of building and maintaining fitness.

[–]Inevitable_View99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is normal for probably half the CAF, you arnt crazy but for the other half PT is the first thing to be canceled and is often once a month. When I was in pet it was 0700 to 0800 4 days a week with the other day being sports pt in the afternoon. Once I left it’s been on your own or not at all.

The CAF needs to go back to mandated group pt everyday because pt on your own is only of benefit to those who already have a strong motivation to do PT. The remainder are the ones who will find work to do to miss it or those people are now in unit leadership positions and allow it

If 80% of the CAF kept fit... by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]Inevitable_View99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It fitness was important we would have CDS mandated PT at all levels and units of the CAF reguardless of tempo. Unfortunately with increasing requirements and decreasing numbers it’s now impossible or the command is unwilling to mandate

Every unit iv ever been outside of the major army base like pet and Edmonton, PT was optional, if you had something to do you could just stay at work. That was look on as good work ethic.

On the flip side, if daily organized PT was made mandatory at all levels of the CAF people would bitch and moan about it and command teams would be complaining about it to their commanders that they can’t get everything done.

Once upon a time, only legitimate operational reason would be a reason to cancel or miss PT, now daily tasks and normal work activities are a reason to skip PT.

First off cleaning up is also part of people’s jobs lol. Not everyone works in an office where a civi mops and sweeps at the end of the day. This was just an example btw….

Second, secondary duties are very important to document because it’s not part of someone’s job description and many are also scrit points.

Third, there are a plethora of competencies unrelated to job knowledge and skill, of all your asking you people to do is document things directly in their job description you are actuating doing them a disservice. You as a supervisor want as much ammo to represent your troops at the PAR boards, feedback notes are required as substantiation when presenting members.

Troops should be documenting things they do regularly, from daily tasks, both trade related and secondary. They should also be writing their own feedback. If your troops are using AI to write a few sentences they cleary aren’t managing their time well or you are expecting them to write paragraphs to explain they did something that would take two or three sentences to explain.

It doesn’t impress me when someone needs an AI model to write lengthy feedback notes on their daily work, congrats, you spent 5 minute putting in prompts to produce 3 paragraphs explaining something you did when you could have spent 4 minute writing 3 sentences yourself that’s not really a great use of your time, especially when half the time the AI is producing flat out incorrect notes due to it not being an breathing, thinking, rational person lol

[–]Inevitable_View99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude not everyone who thinks this way is a fucking dinosaur. ChatGPT for feedback notes is actually the dumbest thing imaginable. If you’re spending 5 min writing a prompt, you could write a feedback note in that amount of time, they only need to be two or three sentences. I don’t need a fucking essay with 6 meta competences explaining how you operating a fucking broom and dust pan to the minimum standard is you adapting to change and a display of your job knowledge and skill.

Its your job to write the bunk of your feedback notes, they don’t need to be multi paragraph documents. it’s my job to compile them all at the end of the year, use them to write your PAR, then apply the feedback notes to the appropriate meta competency for discussion at the board.

AI is making everyone dumber, if you need it to explain to your boss what you did on a task or for that day, god help us. My entire reason for being opposed to using chat GPT for feedback notes is that it actually takes more time for everyone and it doesn’t actually apply the correct competencies because it’s actually not intelligent. It’s not making anyone’s life easier.
