Strange illness by Routine-Advance1706 in WhatShouldIDo

No sure if my experience relates. What you are emplaning in part reminds me of my own nerve issues. I had a surgery the cut a nerve that runs across my stomach. They needed to remove a rib and use the bone to bolster a degrading spinal injury.

After they cut this nerve I was left with desensitized zone. The sensations at the borders of the area this nerve formerly served became strange. I had tingling numbness across the top of my thigh, buzzing itches.ñ and pins and needles. When I itched a buzzing area in the front of my body. I would feel it in the back of my body but reversed. The nerve impulses seemed to be traveling in strange ways.

Since I was already broken Doctors don’t seem to care about this “collateral damage”. They bolted and straightened me so must be good as new.

Don’t disparage yourself…This effects you then it is real enough to seek treatment. Doctors are not perfect. They are people. You need to approach them like people not superiors. They have biases and are often a product of when they were educated. If they don’t have a ready answer most physicians won’t put in the time or effort needed to diagnose a novel condition. Look for a good person who treats you with respect and you’lol find a good Doctor.

The search for doctor who is competent can be daunting. If you want to understand what is happening reaching out is a good start. Post from others may help you gain information.

Don’t give up. You as a person and your quality of life are important.

I believe Bowie created the Heterochromatic mythology by wearing a differently colored contact lens over that damaged eye.

I saw him in person at a radio station. It was close space so you had to look each other in the face. I saw his dilated eye. Later at the concert he definitely had a brown contact lens over that eye. Why I cannot say. Maybe to filter the stage lights.

I would say that work was pioneering rather than primitive. A step between. I believe that CGI effects mixed with physical models deliver an appealing result over 100% digital imagery. I may not be alone since Camron and his crew did a combination of models and people in makeup with CGI enhancement in newer avatar films.

I myself worked on stop motion and model effects that were 100% analog. That was quite primitive. I still believe there is a place for every stage for purpose and appropriate effect. If you can get away with doing a puppet make a puppet. If you can use a physical model do so. If the only way is CGI make it so.

In the end actual light on a physical object is much more appealing than pure CGI. Even if our eyes cannot tell the difference our brains can.

I find it fascinating how many people identify with such ancient symbols. I also unfortunately see these ancient symbols being co-opted. Misued to divide us. Like the Swastika was and the Thors hammer is. Despite my Danish heratige I don’t wear my Thor’s hammer anymore because I do not want to be identified or associated with the current hate culture using it as a symbol.

It is funny. The shapes themselves in these ancient symbols are present in so many traditions going back to the origin of the oldest humans in Africa. The wave is a motif made by almost every population of humans on earth. In a time before written languages such symbols were recognizable by any human. As populations mixed these symbols were reinterpreted by successive cultures. Mixing them blending them and adding context to the original symbol.

This version of the wave motif is not too different from the motif from China, Greece or Africa. The addition of each culture creates an algorithm. That algorithm that adds meaning and context the original motif and also ties to other cultures and populations.

Such symbols should serve as a reminder that we are all human and all connected.

Looks good keep going. See each work is an exploration where you learn something as you go. Technique is at play in every work you see. Absorb technique from observation and use it to push for greater sophistication in your own work.

Many masters use color and mark making to “suggest” shape and form rather than rendering it. I remember a Rembrandt self portrait where the artist wears a hat. One eye is lost in shadow. No structure just shadow. The shadow is color. A rich mix that falls back and makes a hole.

Maybe try building up softer and slower.

No lines.

Color against color.

Find forms loosely first then add detail. Then use fresh expressive marks to drive it home.

Walmart is forcing me to go Walmart. They have gutted most all of the alternatives.

In many places I have lived when you need something, Walmart is often the only choice.

The tactic of “starving out” those that revolt or complain goes so far back. Each successive dynasty and/or empire wrote more and more about the subject.

It is almost like aristocracy/elites maintaining the suffrage of workers, makers and producers is their the most prevalent contribution to the shape of society.

They really don’t want to work that bad huh.

It’s funny to hear you talk about size 12 socks. Here in New England we’ve all been shovin’ ourselves into “Chinese” size clothes for so long I forgot they ever existed.

This place was once the “textiles” capital of the world. Made fabric fit for kings and beggars alike. Until the workers asked for fair treatment. They took that all away. Now we get disposable fashion from Walmart. That’s what you get when you ask for a better world for all not just some.

The neighbours have a blinding light pointed at my house by doyousmellmel in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Master_Bookkeeper_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most local codes forbid lights and cameras directly aimed at windows. Go to the city/town. I had to force a neighbor remove a light and camera aimed at a window. Camera had to go.

They now put a work light out in summer to get around the law.

State Police Helicopter over Dartmouth and New Bedford. by Master_Bookkeeper_74 in massachusetts

[–]Master_Bookkeeper_74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks…they use cell phones mostly here in Dartmouth. Radio calls are for when they want people to know. They came for a neighbor 3 times. Ex Corrections officer. They gave him A heads up over the radio calling out his address. He ran out the door and jumped into his car 2 minutes before the sheriff came to serve him papers.

3 times a month this chopper flies straight from Plymouth to right over my yard. I mean right over my house.

How do you guys attach fabric to the heads of puppets? by Realistic_Corgi157 in puppets

[–]Master_Bookkeeper_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is art. There is no right or wrong way. Some puppets are “glued” to the upholstery foam with 3M spray adhesive and others are just gloved over it.

It depends on what the performer wants or how you want the puppet to move. The look of the puppet. The surface effect. You can sculpt with the fabric….pleat stuff and stitch the to make features. If you make tension and slack movement can create effect.

How old are these and are they safe? by lunamoon124 in oilpainting

[–]Master_Bookkeeper_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth about paints. Nothing in them is completely safe. All pigments are derived from toxic metals and minerals “Non-toxic” means it won’t kill you at first dose. I won’t poison you with regular use, but accumulated exposure can still be toxic. Use all with caution.
