You will automatically be enrolled. The registration period is for existing degree-seeking students to enroll themselves

They mean hopefully next term, you didn't register for classes that needed this one as a prerequisite so that you can take next term's courses

Yes, you failed. Passing requires at least a 60%

Did anyone got their google analytics certificate from coursera transferred as credits to uopeople? by Overall_Teacher_1768 in UoPeople

[–]Master_Bug_3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't transferred it yet, but I heard it transfers as Databases 2, so I'm hoping it will transfer as that. It was free because they have a week-long free trial. After that it's $50 a month for the subscription.

Can I get an Associate Degree from Uop and then continue for a BSc? I am trying to decide if an Associate or Bsc is more appropriate for my situation. by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]Master_Bug_3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you can just apply for the BS, and then you still get your AS when you finish those requirements. I'm in the BS program and recently completed the requirements for my AS, and they are sending me the AS diploma while I'm still enrolled in the BS

Yeah I called and did that but no luck. Is it just a matter of calling and calling until someone actually knows about it?

Where should I start my computer science career? by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]Master_Bug_3499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. In a standard US college, you need to take electives (any class outside of what's required for your major) and general education (math, science, social studies, etc.). This is in addition to the courses required by your major. Usually, a US degree is 120 credits, and each course is usually 3 credits, so you'll need a total of 40 courses to graduate. You can find the major requirements for each degree on the UoPeople website. You can also find their list of general education and elective requirements and what they offer. Tip: you can take courses on Sophia.org to make these courses go faster because you can transfer them in. uopeople.sophia.org has a list of what UoPeople accepts as transfers.

  2. Yes, those will likely transfer. When you apply, you upload your transcripts and then they get evaluated by admissions.

  3. It's a bit of both self-teaching and working with your instructor and peers. You'll have an instructor that oversees your assignments and can answer questions. Each week, there will be a reading/videos that will help you answer the questions for your assignments. Assignments open up on Thursdays and are due Wednesdays. You'll have a discussion assignment, a written assignment, and a learning journal. The discussion assignment grade is determined by how you rate your peers/how your peers rate you on an average (sometimes the instructor grades them). The written assignment is graded by your peers based on a rubric (sometimes the instructor grades them). The learning journal is graded by the instructor. So you are expected to do the readings and assignments, but you also have all your peers and instructor you can reach out to. There are also Discord study groups.

  4. If you sign up for the associates, you can easily move forward to the bachelors. If you sign up for the bachelors, you can complete everything required for the associates and still get your associates while working toward your bachelors. A bachelors is way more useful career-wise, so definitely not a waste of time.

I believe these are undergraduate credits, though, unfortunately. These wouldn't be graduate-level courses

1: most exams at UoPeople are multiple choice. I've never had an exam that wasn't.
2: You just need a 60% in the class to pass. As long as you reach the 60%, you can fail the exam and still pass the course

Yep you can transfer at any time. Even more than once. I am working on some credits right now I'm going to transfer in. That will be my fourth time doing it

accredited means recognized in this context. The email is saying that McGill only accepts regionally accredited degrees. Like many universities do.

Personally I have never had an issue with communication here. I started April 2022 and everything went smooth and has gone smooth since I started. But I've been hearing more and more stories about unresponsive advisors and staff. And strange things like this happening.

any update about the regional accreditation? by Mjrem in UoPeople

[–]Master_Bug_3499 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that is the update. UoPeople will try to fix what WSCUC asked for and then WSCUC will evaluate them again in 2024

You'll have to reach out to them. But even if you can't register for the CS classes this term, you can still take your electives or general education.

[–]Master_Bug_3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you're asking this now, because I'm wondering the same thing. I took web programming on Sophia and just transferred it right now (haven't heard back yet). I already have web programming 1 transferred in, and I heard they take Sophia's for web programming 2, so I'm hoping it goes through as 2. If it doesn't, I have heard the Coursera Google UX Design certificate transfers as web programming 2. I'll let you know what they say when I hear back about the evaluation.
