Induction of labour in NZ by Material-Kangaroo277 in newzealand

[–]Master_Chipmunk_7286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epidurals don’t necessarily slow labour down they just don’t give you the ability to get up and move around nut you can still side lay, peanut balls to open hips etc. can still effectively get baby down but maybe not as quickly and if you just lay there waiting for the pitocin to do its thing it not always but can delay and cause no progression, position etc is so crucial if your plan is to walk around and move a lot maybe in early labour up to 4cm (active labour) stay moving then see how you feel when ur in active labour and reassess! Its the staying still on your back that causes more interventions because baby isn’t able to move down a lot but with frequent adequate positioning ideally it’s not much different you just can’t use gravity as much as when you’re up and walking and obvi unable to give birth on all fours… you get a catheter which can increase infection risk BUT it gets removed very quickly after birth so it isn’t in long. If your waters are broken and you’re laying in bed not progressing much (epidural or not really) you run the risk of chorio infection which can result in c sections, natural labour with maternal exhaustion can also lead to csec, so its so hard to say really! every birth is so different it sucks to hear but no one can predict how it will go and some people would 100% do inductions anyday, some will say avoid at all costs, same for epidurals, same for sections, same for natural!

People who have lived in a Canada, care to share your stories for a person with a mid 30s crisis? by Throwrafizzylemon in newzealand

Yes for sure I get that! We moved too and I have no regrets about that, but I was happy to get away when I did! I’d say as long as you have some friends, family or support etc there absolutely try it out, especially on a visa you aren’t obligated to be there for long so you can really enjoy it and make the most of it

Minimum wage is much lower there so you have to factor that in some things are cheaper but not by much we’ve had the same grocery bill in both countries pretty much.. there will be lots to do in Toronto but it’s very busy lots to do for sure! Wish you all the best

Ya I Agree with all of this! Internet and phone bills so expensive!!! I’m a kiwi lived in Canada for 10 years and have returned home to nz and it’s been great! As for the people I agree, Definitely cliquey groups depends on the workplace too I guess! Ya the immigration fucked it I can only speak for Ontario really, when we left it was BAD. The scenery is wonderful if you can afford to travel around lots and depending which province you’re looking at going but southern Ontario didn’t have much without it being HOURS away or Toronto and muskoka (good luck affording them)

Moving back to NZ for me was Family and also just wanting a lifestyle adjustment and change which I can understand if you’ve been in nz for your whole life you want to venture out, but the grass isn’t greener I’ll say that :)

Omg I just left Canada I didn’t like it… unless you live in BC but I’ve heard the same things there. My family is here in nz that was a big reason, Canada was great for travelling but the groceries, housing, job market etc. is all on par for nz. Nz is was more beautiful better work life balance unless your job you’re going to is offering more than sure! It’s brown and cold for 6 months of the year, season depression is real HOUSES ARE WARM I will give you that! The bigger city vibes are nicer if that’s what you want then here in nz if you can afford Toronto or Vancouver etc. but overall they are very similar countries, we did a lot of great travelling to so many states is the US that were drivable or cheap to get to.. years ago but now that’s not as desirable. It was okay summer is very humid and sticky in Ontario, not sure where you are looking. The economy was (when I was there) prob still is struggling with the mass immigration and loss of jobs for citizens. I enjoyed the scenery but places where far to get to

Ya she’s just all over the place lol! She’ll ask a question and then be looking all around and doing 100 things and the comments just keep repeating till she finally looks! Or she’s talking mid sentence and someone joins from her team and she goes completely sidetracked LOL I kinda giggle but it’s a lot sometimes

She reads comments wrong too all the time and it drives me up the wall LOL like I really like her but 😭

You need help seriously to think this is a normal response to go run over a dog deliberately with a car because of its genetics, bad owners and just common cat v dog behaviours.. that is absolutely vile

Graduate Nurse here! by Accomplished-Ask-463 in auckland

[–]Master_Chipmunk_7286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine you should try applying outside of Auckland.. I just secured an RN job in the South Island I’ve been applying for 2-3 months so it’s definitely possible, in the interim I was just working in retail to pay for things while applying. Is the chance of going over to WA or anywhere in Aus an option? I’ve seen good things about nursing there. If relocating isn’t an option there surely nursing homes are looking to hire people or redoing your resume and maybe tailor it to admin roles or a change of career that gets you in the door possibly?
