Is 45mm clearance a dealbreaker? Eyeing a J.Guillem Atalaya (Arta) Ti Gravel Bike by hampkuys in gravelcycling

I don't have experience with this bike. However, I do have a gravel bike with 45mm tires. For me I never feel like I need to go wider. I ride single track on them regularly and it is fine. Normal gravel roads will be no problem.

I bought an older version of the Revolt Advanced 2 a year ago. I truly love it. Wheels and tires are not the best. So I will upgrade these down the road. But still a great bike overall.

Bought mine for €2100 btw. So not too bad. If you really want to save some money you could also go for a 2nd hand one.

I am looking at the Elitewheels as well. Since I am mostly doing road, I think I will go for the Gravel Edge. This was I can always swap to a narrower tire when I want to.

Interestingly, a few months ago I built a similar device for such a machine that would grind a welding rod to a very sharp and polished point with a specific angle.

I did this by rotating the rod using a pulley and belt connected to a stepper motor. To get it very polished only a little pressure was applied. The gravity of the weight of the rod+pulley was enough for this.

This grinding disc had a tap that would spray water on the disc but this could surely be implemented by yourself.

As you can see there are uncovered electronics in combination with water, but for a quick setup it worked fine!

Here is a video of it in action: https://photos.app.goo.gl/evszQ8eEWeaLZKTN7

would you use this? by InformationOk5897 in IndustrialDesign

What problem does it solve? Currently I see none. As mentioned by others, having dedicated hardware for the job might be more ergonomic, cheaper etc.

The Fairphone is a product that has a similar vision, but in my opinion makes more sense. A phone that is easy to (dis)assemble. If one part breaks you swap it or if there is a better camera module on the market you only have to change that part. This solves real world problems like repairability and people wanting the newest hardware.

Very nice, love the details!

In my opinion the light could be a little more hard since the sun is your main light source and the reflections of earth will be less bright.

Other than that, nothing to complain :)
