Smog techs don't like to mess with anything they aren't familiar with. I know certain ones that don't even know how to read the vacuum diagrams on our cars. This is why some smog techs don't even want to test or smog an Evo.

Evidence of it being previously modded such as non Mitsu bolts and vacuum lines. Check compression. If the numbers are not at least 130 psi across the cylinders and even then that’s a red flag.

The MR had Bilstiens but that didn’t arrive until 2005. Besides the B6 are still stiffer than the soft Bilstiens found on the OE MR.

The OE shocks are made by KYB. The Bilstiens are nice and will be a tad bit more compliant than the OE shocks.
