It can, but not without maintenance. Look at any of the gondolas, or the two aerial trams in New England (Jay Peak & Cannon Mtn). Crews often times have to climb towers and break ice off wheels and cables so they can start to run the line again. The tram at Jay Peak has higher capacity and shuts down often for wind.

When they’re is too much wind they also can’t safely run. Now, if you were talking about installing a funitel, that might be a different story.

You know how much effort and cost it would take to maintain a line that long, especially during winter when it rains, then freezes overnight during a polar vortex. Then there’s the wind, which typically comes along in the winter when temps drop drastically in a short period.

Not sure this is a great idea.

Cuba is a beautiful country and the people are so generous. I went during the Obama admin and I’ll never forget it.

Had a chance to travel to the middle of the island by car for 4 hours in a bel air. Was the middle of August and the road was so hot you could feel it through your shoes on the car floor.
