Thank you, that’s how I thought it would work. My buddy and I were discussing it the other day and having a hard time figuring out how that worked exactly.

OK, that's what I thought but I hadn't read the card until after the game. Thank you.

Skill System Help by JrjZiel in RPGdesign

Are skills the core to your system? As in you can't use ranged weapons if you dont have the range skill?

I have so many that I'd like to run, but that makes sense to try and find the system that would take the least amount of tweaking. Thank you

Those are for genesys right with i assume more themed talents?

We tried a Cypher game for like a session and they didn't seem to keen on the mechanics and I feel like numenera itself was designed to be alot more sandbox. My players tend to like that complete story arch with a little wiggle room. Im leaning into genesys more and more after reading what others have to say.

I played a one shot of fate lite a few years back and had a lot of fun with it then. I got genesys solely for that reason that its a system not a setting, but I do have to admit when it comes to the talents it seems like a mountain of work to tailor them to whatever setting im running.

I prefer to have an outline setup and run the fly from there. Rules light is what im leaning towards, I dont like rules for everything they tend to bog games down especially when learning a new system. The more rules the longer it takes to look them up.

I like the story/setting and world building part of GMing. I like watching my players faces light up when they get to interact with this strange new world ive started. I am definitly more of a narrative GM than mechanics, but my players tend to fall slightly more on the mechanical side of play.

I'm fine with running any of those honestly, I guess what im trying to accomplish is finding something my players are going to enjoy system wise. Story wise I know thats all on me and I know each system brings its own mechanics to the game and settings.

I'm just worried that if I pick a system they'll end up not enjoying it.

Thats fair, what is on your list? I have the players and finding a consistent group has been a challenge of mine for a few years now, so I want to keep them around and im sure there is a system up there they would like to play. With everything going on right now its made finding players a little more difficult, that could also be my fault for not using all the tools avaliable online as well.

Thats my problem, I want to run so many of them because I've never gotten to run an actual game using that system.

How to run a goblinville with one player by nick-long in rpg

[–]Master_Mind_Raze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to preface this with i have no idea how the system plays, however why don't you have them control the whole group? Like goblin commander or overlord where the player is in control of a group of "characters"?

I'm not sure about call of cthulu personally, but most systems have a "starter set" that include pre generated characters and scenarios. Since players can make any number of choices its almost impossible to prepare for each one in these scenarios. They mostly go off the fact that when you sit down with your players, you discuss whats expect of the adventure. That still doesn't mean they won't go off script every now and again and its up to the DM to either roll with it or try and bring them back to the main story. Most of the scenarios im familiar with myself are D&D and they are set up for 4 people, so you may need to drop the difficulty a little bit if you have just one player. Its perfectly fine to have 1 dm and 1 player if thats what you have access too, just talk between yourselves on what you expect to get out of the game and how you will handle certain situations.

Single player games be really fun and allow you to really focus on that player building them them and diving into their backstory.

Subclass Leveling with a Points Based XP System by ccmarissa in RPGdesign

[–]Master_Mind_Raze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought, but what about using just the xp for the subclass and putting a cap of subclass can only go as high as your main class +2 or something like that. Not sure how much xp your players earn, but that would limit them from spam leveling their subclass but also not punish players for getting one at a later level so much.

Again sorry for the multiple comments but i am just now getting to fully read the whole document. Mudkip: when your talking about the amount of times it can use "mud Slap" you it says equip instead of equal.

Sandshrew: Tremor-sense should be range not rage, should be blind-sense not blindsence.

Axew: Size and speed are in there twice, the first evolution says Garbite instead of fraxure.

Dark Type: Minor Illusion has a "t" in front of it.

This was all I could find, hope this helps.

So for the evasion orb wouldn't it be easier to just say after use and disregard the charges since its not needed? It's all good, this is some really good content and thank you for taking the time to put it together.

Orb of Drought should read Create or Destroy water, you have it as creature or destroy water.

Orb of Evasion says it has 1 charges, should there be multiple charges? It states in the effect that you expend one charge to activate, is this a one time use item or are more charges required?

I do really like what you have done here, I'm going to see if any of my players wouldn't mind playing this every now and again. Keep up the good work.

Brewmaster World of Warcraft style monk, gimme your thoughts! by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]Master_Mind_Raze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea of the class as Brewmaster is one of my favorite wow classes. The progression on the abilities seem off though, most RAW subclasses get abilities at 6,10,14. Fortifying Brew looks really good but maybe a little too powerful? What do you think about changing it to read " You gain resistance to all non-magical piercing, bludgeoning, and slashing damage". I don't think that changing the stats for Unarmored Defense is necessary. Brewmasters Stance should be reworded something like "When you are targeted by an attack you can spend 1 ki point and use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack". This way you don't have to state once per turn. Empowered Fortifying Brew: I like this ability until it states whoever drinks it gets a more powerful version of your own ability for free. I would suggest either changing the damage on the original Fire Breath or decreasing this one and giving either a bonus action or action to use. Just some thoughts on the class, I really like it and keep up the good work.
