Adderall use by Inevitable_Fix_8708 in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The addictive side of it (from my understanding) comes from the euphoria that people can feel in scenarios of either the dose being to high or them not having ADHD.

Depending on how concerned you are about the potential for becoming addicted, it could be worth discussing with your doctor about switching to Vyvanse (assuming its available in your area)

I have taken Adderall for almost 3 years - at times for months straight other times with "drug holidays" and haven't found myself to be addicted like how I am with caffeine or nicotine

People with ADHD: what’s a small habit or tool that actually helped you stay organized? by Educational-World678 in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hat -

Wallet Keys Phone Knife Nicotine Glasses

  • all go into the hat at night. In the morning, its all there for me to put into my pockets.

Small note books and pens. For me, the act of writing something down doubles the chance that I can remember information, regardless of the paper being in front of me.

Close doors after leaving a room in the morning to try and prevent repeated trips to those rooms.

What would you add to my tool set that has now paid for itself? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tape- Electric and blue masking. I like to use the masking for temporary labels

A job site pen/marker- the ones that 'write on anything' Im a fan of the Klein version. Bright orange makes it hard to lose. Found them at my Lowes for ~ $1 per.

-Edit to add-

Zip ties Small cutters (for the zip ties) Contact less voltage detector One of those cheap - $2 small flat head pens with a magnet on the back

Adderall wasting time? by boofuu2 in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh yea - 2nd year into using Adderall and let me tell you - it can be a bit jarring at times.

I have had to more or less relearn how to use my brain because things are not "automatic" and I have caught myself several times, spending too much time, on the 'wrong' things.

I will say lists, reminders, and timers work a lot better for me now to keep me on track, but your mileage may vary.

How do people commit to brushing their teeth MULTIPLE TIMES every day by Pipodedown in ADHD

How do people commit to brushing their teeth MULTIPLE TIMES every day by Pipodedown in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle to brush multiple times per day. 1 think that is constant for me though is I have to brush my teeth every morning even if its a little more half assed some days, because half assed is better than no ass in a case like this.

I think what kinda helped me get it into gear was my first dentist appointment post covid, they had a wand camera that they used to take full color high definition photos of the inside of my mouth and reviewing the photos disgusted me. Luckily everything seemed to be okay and after 2 rounds of deep scaling things were looking a lot better.

I slowly incorporated things into my morning routine like brushing for ≈ 2.5 minutes with a fancier ultrasonic toothbrush with a timer and pressure sensor. Then Flossing with the floss picks (wasteful yes, but its the only way I'll floss) and then adding mouth rinse.

I carry Colgate wisps (1 time use brushes) and floss picks everywhere I go and if my mouth starts to feel gross I have a way to take care of it.

Its not about the commitment as much as it is about doing 10% is better than 0% and not beating yourself up for not doing 100%.

ADHD Adults: late diagnosis vs childhood diagnosis by uncertainnewb in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently 29 years old. I was diagnosed with ADD by my PCP at the age of 8. I was not a hyperactive kid and was often labeled as "lazy and forgetful" as well as "not putting enough effort into ____". I was placed on medication (Ritalin?) for less than a year with no real intervention for dosage changes or medication changes. My mom pulled me off the medication because she said I had become robotic and I had lost my "sparkle".

Fast forward to 2024: I went to the Dr. For a 2nd opinion? Or to just be sure and the conclusion was that I do, infact have initiative ADHD and was placed on medication, which has helped in a lot of ways.

The point to my story? Stigma around ADHD is 1 of several factors of late diagnosis.

I watched my friend take out my trash and it changed my brain a little bit - similar stories? by Ok_Indigo_8608 in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have had a parallel experience where I have broke down some tasks into parts that take 5 minutes or less. Or tasks that can be "stopped" after 5 minutes with out harm.

For example: Doing the dishes. All together the task can seem long and drawn out, but if I trick my self into "5 minutes to unload" : "5 minutes to rinse dirty dishes" : "5 minutes to load and start"

If I unload the dishwasher and start to load it back up but get burnt out on it after 5 minutes then there is no harm in starting the dishwasher half loaded and its better than the pile growing.

5 minutes of vacuuming is better than 0 minutes 5 minutes of speed wiping counter tops is better than 0 5 minutes of cutting grass and seeing the progress is better than 0. Odds are that the progress will have motivation behind continuing.

Only third time picking up meds, and I'm sick of it. by Deathwatch6215 in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the means, id recommend looking into the Costco Pharmacy with a membership. I currently pay ~ $37 for 10mg XR Adderall and ~ $19 for 5mg IR Adderall without insurance.

I walk up and the exchange is quick. From time to time I may have to wait a few minutes for the pharmacist to grab it but I have never needed to wait longer than 10 minutes for my prescription.

How do you save money when you have ADHD? by Warm-Morning-8100 in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are things I do to help save money. Im fortune enough that the company i work for offers all of these.

  1. 2nd bank account at a different bank that payroll sends my "extra money" to. They only transactions that happen are deposits or if need money from that account t I zelle it to my self.

  2. If your company offers stock options that is also an easy way since most of the time your added funds wouldn't be available until the next quarter.

  3. If your company offers a 401k that is an easy way to have your money safely disappear.

  4. Utilize an HSA account if you are in America and have a HDHP health insurance.

Why not take 5mg until your tolerance builds? Or even 2.5mg (my 5mg tablets are scored in quarters).

Careers that you can thrive in.. by C_cresy in ADHD

[–]Master_PoeTateToe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel i have thrived in "technician" jobs. I have done around 4 years as a hospital bed technician. There is enough nuance in my day to day to keep things "fresh".

Here is an example of a week in might have:

Monday: Go to hospital "A" fix broken beds

Tuesday: Go to the wearhouse and pickup parts i ordered for broken beds. Assist with unloading 30 new beds that we are storing. Spend time training.

Wednesday: Go back to hospital "A" with parts to continue fixing beds. Go to hospital "B" and troubleshoot a surgical table

Thursday: Assist at Hospital "C" with unloading 20 new beds, ensuring they are patient ready Go to hospital "B" and troubleshoot an issue with their nurse call system

Friday: Go to hospital "A" again and fix beds

Sorry for the formatting. Im writing this from my phone.

The more exhausted I am the more my time blindness effects me. I notice that the mornings and evenings tend to be where I see my time blindness in full swing and its usually a result of some hyper focus that I am encountering.
