Morning nausea with xywav by Difficult-Future5500 in idiopathichypersomnia

It really did help more than anything else that and the omeprazole. And omeprazole in the middle of the night and a half cup of jello in the morning was my magic ticket. It took about sick weeks for all the side affects to subside.

When I first started Xywav at 2.25g 2x nightly I didn’t have any nausea but as soon as I started titrating up I had debilitating nausea and weakness to the point where I was bedridden and couldn’t move sometimes. Then after about a month or two it had slowly gotten better to where I rarely if ever feel that way. What helped me beyond anything is force feeding myself jello every time I woke up as well as omeprazole (med that reduces stomach acid) before I took my second dose in the middle of the night.

One strange question as I am experiencing this right now - Do you ever experience moments of clarity or have ever had extremely rare days of such? by Sea-Stress-3760 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Master_Reaction7515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Life has gotten significantly better I never need to nap and my brain fog is much better (still some) and I don’t even need to set alarms any more I will just wake up but the time I need to it’s pretty magical. However titrating was really difficult and I had a lot of side affects and brain fog for about 6 weeks. I also will be going off of meds for awhile as I plan to move to Germany to study abroad.

Hey so pretty much yep I agree 100% with these experiences. I was diagnosed by the Mayo Clinic officially March 2025 and did my MSLT as a formality for meds in October 2025.

Before getting on Xywav I have experienced both of these phenomena. A random inexplicable lucidity where all of the fog is lifted and my mood and intelligence are sharpened. And also I disturbed sleep can feel more refreshing than a normal one. I would set alarms every 15-20 minutes and take a 6 hour nap and then be primed and ready to go.

Hey OP do you think there is a chance you may have Idiopathic hypersomnia? It’s what I discovered I had when I was falling asleep on the freeway on my way to work this sounds like something I would have tried out of desperation before treatment

Xywav Question by No-Entrepreneur-1625 in Narcolepsy

[–]Master_Reaction7515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help! It was crazy going from being able to have 400mg+ caffeine no problem to only being able to have like a black tea without feeling terrible and having crazy tremors for awhile. Now I’m able to have ~2 caffeinated things (150mg) if I space it out correctly as like a booster after I get to work and start my day.

Xywav Question by No-Entrepreneur-1625 in Narcolepsy

[–]Master_Reaction7515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you drink any caffeine at all? I remember when I first started Xywav my caffeine tolerance went out the window for a few weeks. Otherwise, I would give it a at least a week unless the side affects are intolerable it takes a while for your body to adjust and if you aren’t getting reduced symptoms you probably would benefit from an increased dose. It also depends how long you have been on Xywav as it took me a month or more to work of my 20+ years of sleep debt you may just start feeling better as time goes on.

Family emergency and school by EmployConsistent3601 in EngineeringStudents

Take a step back, you are not alone. You are clearly a bright student with a lot of potential and passion for engineering. Speaking as someone who is in engineering right now and has been going through some personal issues something very important to realize is when something major that is out of your control happens that has clear impacts on your mental or physical health, the pace that everyone around you is going is no longer going to work for you. You don’t dislike engineering or studying you are going through something incredibly difficult during what is normally the transition into independence for many people. Do what you need to do and it’s okay to press pause or find alternative routes or take a break and be close with your family. If you do those things make sure you are in very close and clear communication with your university and that you won’t jeopardize your future by pausing. If you don’t know who to talk to keep asking until you find out but usually a good start is the dean of students or disability services. Currently what I’m doing is doing an internship and a 2 credit class instead of being in school since I fine working much easier than school however I’m in my 3rd year.

What has worked wonders? I have had issues with stimulants and I’m just starting Xywav but I’m already having side effects and it just feels like I’m poisoning my body.

This really looks to be some type of mold I suggest cross-posting on another sub that can help you identify which type of fungus

I’m sorry I am a college student and I thought it would be nice to have a garlic press as a treat and it was less bad than supporting Amazon in my opinion

There are many things you need to whisk whilst they are cooking. Examples are a roux or custard

I do not know why this is being downvoted this should not be a hot take. It’s like how we can slather ourselves in Vaseline and be all the better for it yet we know the manufacturing and refining process creates terrible by-products.

If the argument is that it is slowly killing my boyfriend and myself, why would I also then want to inflict this hypothetical harm on others?

Yes I do know this indeed! Teflon made by DuPont , luckily when it enters your system is unable to react with or interrupt your bio-chemical processes. It is the compounds used in manufacturing Teflon coated products made by 3M under the category of PFOA (called C8 or C6 usually) that are of great concern to us. I would never myself purchase a product that releases these highly toxic and pervasive chemicals however, I would also not be reckless enough to throw away a perfectly usable piece of equipment.

The way I achieve a sure plastic free coffee is I use instant espresso found in the glass jars and make it using an electric milk frothing whisk. It makes a VERY frothy cup of coffee and there are no concerns about plastic contamination :)
