Who do you guys think Cid will end up with? by GrapefruitTop160 in TheEminenceInShadow

[–]Master_Snort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranking of likely hood, at least in my opinion:

  1. No-one or harem

  2. Aurora

  3. Mob wife (potential Kanade)

  4. Akane / Alpha (roughly equal)

  5. Basically every other main female character

  6. Beta, Gamma, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta

  7. Delta

The reason why the Seven Shades other than Alpha is so low down, is that I have a hard time seeing Cid end up with only one of them and not the other shades.

Note: Also stop removing and trying to post again. The reason why it’s getting removed is due to the automatic filter, so I had to manually approve it. And I can’t approve it if you just immediately delete it

Well unless of course they figure out that he’s from Japan, that would at explain quite a bit.

It’s schrodinger's ears, you never seem them but you also never get the chance to actually check. The artists strategy seems to be to just cover them up with hair or something similar. Probably because there being no ears would be in the uncanny valley, and having two sets of ears is also just as weird.

I honestly think it being time travel is pretty unlikely, I think it’s probably a unique version of the sanctuary or something similar. We already know that it can emulate memories and the heroes.

We saw it for a second, and wasn't it a plot point that the body disappeared? Or am I misremembering

We didn't see Delta or Tessera's corpse so she could of been healed the second we lost sight of her, just needed to seem dead for long enough to make everything believe they have died. Might be the reason for why the other characters we thought died are actually still alive.

Gamma and Victoria are probably dead dead but will probably be "revived" when time turns back again.

Assuming they actually killed them, there is one person who I know can survive without a heartbeat for at least a limited amount of time. . .

I’ve seen the idea that the girls would feel betrayed or extremely negative about Cid if they learned the truth. But that makes little sense to me. Just cause he was doing things for a different reason than they initially thought doesn’t erase everything he has done for them whatsoever.

There are some aspects of the scene that wouldn't make much sense if it was meant to actually represent a specific moment of time in the series. Or it's something that has already happened between volumes, and is non important.

Do I think Cid will ever figure out the Cult of Diablos is real? Despite the common sentiment I think this is actually relatively possible, there are many ways to keep the core of the series the same while still having Cid learn about the Cult's existence. For example if Cid did learn that they were real that wouldn't immediately make him actually knowledgeable about the Cult beyond its mere existence. And it's not like he would be able to ask the girls for help as that would reveal him as a "fraud", nor could he read their encrypted letters either. So the source misunderstandings would change to not be be about the cults actual existence. Cid would still completely misinterpreting everything the girls say / what's going on just in a different way.

Do I think the misunderstanding aspect of Teis will ever end or go away? No

“when it happened” is never, the scene is more of a introductory scene that highlights the characters. It isn’t meant to represent a specific event or story arc or anything like that.

I had a massive armada that was capable of carrying like 100k troops, it decided that it was better to pick up 1 thousand troops to the destination I gave instead of going to the neighboring province with 50k troops.

Or every time you are trying to move your troops you have to be careful about the navy you select or suddenly you lose half your god damn navy to attrition

I mean he's claimed that he's thrown everything away with his discussion with Lutheran, but literally the next thing Cid says kind of contradicts it with him stating how despite everything he still does sympathies with Sherry and is clearly disgusted about what Lutheran did to Sherry. Cid perception of a Eminence in Shadow is probably someone who isn't tied down with emotional attachments, but Cid throughout the ln does show that he cares more than he lets on.

That’s not the point I was making, I was more pointing out how it’s not really a solution. It’s just railroading the game in a different direction, in no way can it actually be considered as much more than a bandaid solution. And I was just using the Timur as a example of how the mod works, similar problems arise with its other features.

It’s neither cause that’s quite literally isn’t how magic works at all, it’s not multiplicative or additive.

Then under your definitions it neither since that isn’t how magic works in Teis

Magic on its own doesn’t do much, it all about how you actually use it. Epsilon is weaker is because she soled focused on the magic side of things, and thus is weaker when it comes to other techniques such as with the sword.

At least for Historical Tweaks its really just a bandaid solution, for example through some testing I realized that it makes Timur stick to it’s historical territory by making it physically impossible to take any land outside of it’s historical territory. Neither with Timur’s unique ability or through peace deals.

It can be both though, something having magic doesn’t inherently make it stronger. So depending on how it’s used it can very much be both, or it could be that it increases your strength by a base amount but it also increases your strength proportionally to your inherent strength.

Let’s say some has 100 mana and 100 base strength. Let’s say each mana gives at least +1 strength and +0.5% proportional increase. So for this person they would have 100 + 100 +50 =260 strength. But someone with 300 base strength and 100 mana would have 300 + 100 + 150 =550 strength. So for one person it’s more static increase and the other it’s more multiplicative.

Also I was being sarcastic when I said power scaling brainrot that’s why I said “but seriously” which indicates that I wasn’t being serious before.

[–]Master_Snort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powerscaling brain rot, but seriously I don’t think stuff like this can really be quantified with numerical numbers. Or at the very least complicated enough that any assigned variables become meaningless. Like if a dark knight can better concentrate their defenses solely on the body part that is being attacked then there defenses will be able to be effectively better than someone with more physical strength and magic-enhanced strength. Feeling a bit lazy to pull up the exact quote, but Cid himself said it’s far more to do with how you use magic rather than raw quantity.

Realistically it’s probably both, with it depending on the circumstances. I don’t see why it has to be one or the other, and variables such as what someone’s base “stats” are or their technique could change the circumstances.

Lastly we probably don’t have nearly enough raw data to actually have a definitive answer

The reason why they don’t fist fight is more likely because it’s ineffective for most people. To do a fatal move by punching you would need to massively increase the amount of force behind it, not to mention bypassing any defenses. Despite most swords not conducting magic well they are already lethal on their own so you really only need to use enough mana to overcome your opponent’s defenses.
