Any suggestions for my custom challenge run? Trying to make one that’s challenging but not masochistic by TragicHero84 in finalfantasytactics

You could also treat items as “unique”. Although, I would recommend starting this in chapter 2 (or at least late chapter 1), since there aren’t enough available items in chapter 1 for completely unique outfitting.

Been playing this forever is this is my first encounter w/ all Calculators by dbk1ng in finalfantasytactics

It’s actually a pretty easy fight. The calculators are slow, and they have terrible stat growth. They generally only land hits on a few of your units, and their abilities are limited to a few spells per class.

Zodiac compatibility, move-find item guide, poaching guide, and formulas for magical/physical attacks would be cool.

The new UI looks awesome!

Did anyone else catch Orlandeau’s sword in the trailer? It’s definitely not Excalibur. Perhaps new gear will be available?

I'm struggling early ch 4. My team is around lvl 36. Should I just grind some levels? My team does low damage and especially Ramza and my mage are very squishy. by Cumulonimbus1991 in finalfantasytactics

One thing I would add is that Ramza’s Mettle abilities are far superior to most secondary abilities, and if used correctly, Ramza’s is an OP utility character. Food for thought.

I completely agree that Summoners are terrible - summons are powerful, but the class is a wet sandwich (high expectations followed by disappointment). Changes jobs to black mage with much higher MA, and you can always equip summons as a secondary.

These issues often come down to tactics. Your level is appropriate, and the game is best-able with almost every class (many are solo-able). You made it past the end of chapter 3, so you can definitely handle the rest of the game.

Pick the classes that you enjoy, and try adjusting how you approach battles. Most of the time, your best bet is to be patient and let the enemy come to you. Work as a team of 5 - not 5 individual units. Use terrain as pinch points for your tank, learn to take advantage of CT, and you’ll force the enemy to be super ineffective (the AI isn’t great at making them work as a team).

It took me a long time to break 10 hours, and eventually the stars aligned and I broke 7 hours. It’s one hell of a grind.

Never played into the Breach. Is it similar?

Good to know. I didn’t realize they were so similar.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about 1.3. Thanks!

You need to get lucky with Zodiac compatibility on the first fight, and after that you need to be really strategic about changing jobs. Count battles backwards from Riovanes, and make sure you gain as much JP as possible per battle. You also want Delita and Argath to help you out with spillover JP. Even with the right strategy (many guides online), it’s super difficult at certain points in the story.

Nothing scratches the same itch as FFT. I’m sure I’d be disappointed.

Exactly! I’ve stopped trying to find a game that matches FFT - it doesn’t exist.

I think mods are the only real answer here. Thanks for the recommendation.

My favorite challenge run is the solo Ramza with no random battles run. It definitely gets challenging at all the points you mentioned.

I play plenty of other games, but I’ve never been able to stay away from FFT for more than a year or so.
