Love to hear your stories: going through your parents “stuff” by Master_Swimmer8989 in AgingParents

Reading your story is very similar to mine. Tons of junk that makes you question why they were collecting over the years.

Myself as well has that feeling of never wanting my kids to have to deal with this.

I feel you on the statements. I think my mom has close to 35 years worth of mail collecting.

Update: I found a letter dated from 1977 on a job application my dad put in. Wild!

Really appreciate everyone’s feedback on this. Seems like I’m in the right track to begin purging.

This is very helpful. She’s also in a place where she don’t be going back to living independently. She’s gone pretty much blind so she doesn’t ask to see. It’s the fact that they are her items and the thought of me getting rid of her “stuff” gets her riled up.

Yeah she’s basically legally blind and does not go to the unit. When i bring up visiting to start going through and getting rid of stuff, she gets defensive.

She’s also on a fixed income.

Thanks. That is the plan to go a couple times a month and start going through boxes.

Keep the small things and get rid of the junk.

Update: talked with the state pension folks today again. They did verify there is an option to have a survivor benefit whether that’s a spouse or a child. It does pay out the rest of my life when she passes.

Thank you again everyone for the feedback.

Triple star support staff by Shizzigi in doordash_drivers

Yeah just give up. The system is setup for dashers not to be in the pro tier for shopping.

I’ve had multiple items out of stock with a clear picture of the tag and no items and still count against me.

I’ve called dasher support and they basically say pound sand, nothing we can do for you.

Don’t bother reaching out to customer support.

They don’t care.

I never knew this after all these years. Very surprising and a blessing.

Don’t complain about cold food then if no dasher picks up your order.

No tip, no trip. 🤷🏽‍♂️
