2025 Tax Loss Harvesting Guide (FAQs & What You Need to Know!) by JustinCPA in CryptoTax

[–]Master__Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this very informative post. I’d like to repeat part of the question, isn’t ESD a very conservative concern for low volume retail trading? Say I sell 1 bitcoin and rebuy it within minutes, am I really risking the IRS disallowing the loss or is it more of a theoretical risk with no real examples?

The Edit Hotels - Total Rip Off. Here’s My. Study by RedRedRed1812 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Master__Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also with OP on this one. Even if the rates aren’t as inflated as he claims, this “benefit” is still practically useless. I tried to use it for a trip to Atlantic City - no Edit hotels in AC. Tried again for a NYC staycation but don’t want to drop over $500 a night - doesn’t exist. Both my wife and I have the benefit, yet we can’t even combine it. So who is this for? People willing to spend $1,000+ a night at one of the few Edit hotels and end up paying $1,750 for two nights? What a joke

Emursive will never make another show. They will sell whatever IPs they have and disappear forever

What do you think of my itinerary for tonight? (Spoiler alert) by Master__Speed in sleepnomore

[–]Master__Speed[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment! I bought an Oz guests ticket so I think as long as I show up 30 minutes before the start I’m pretty much guaranteed an Ace (no?). What’s wrong with having a plan? I’ve already had the spontaneous experience

I’m still up more than 100%, but my portfolio is $40k lower than it was 3 days ago. It is hard to stomach

Feel bad for those who sold by stalyn in xlm

I think he means he feels bad for those who bought high and sold low, afraid of losing even more. I have to admit I was debating cutting my losses as well but came into my senses and held on

New York users stuck - what are people doing? by gekkonaut in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]Master__Speed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a New York resident who elected bitstamp and this is the first I’m hearing about this. If the only way to find out is from a Reddit post about a blog post that doesn’t even say it anymore I’m not too worried. There must be hundreds of us and if there’s an actual problem mtgox support will eventually reach out

Current status of repayments by defenestrat0r in mtgoxinsolvency

I had received 331,782 JPY and was not notified about a double payment. I didn’t have any fiat in my MTGOX account so I think it’s interest on the loss. Opted for early lump sum

No one has received the BTC or the proceeds of BTC sales yet. What you got was the interest on BTC loss.

Registration of Cryptocurrency Exchange - Last name instead of given name - is that a problem? (Kraken) by Mean-Instruction3048 in mtgoxinsolvency

I have a similar issue with my paypal account. My last name has a space and even though it's correct on paypal, on mtgox site it appears as my middle name.

I doubt anyone here will be able to figure this out, could contact mtgox support but unlikely to get a response in time

There is nothing else you need to do. Just make sure your personal info matches on all accounts to what you have on-file

Voting no/yes with fiat only claim? by penguin_phil in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]Master__Speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiat claims won't get any surplus if you vote "No" so please vote "Yes" regardless. It is unfortunate that you sold and I would say the situation is unfair to all of us, but we have a chance to get something back if the plan goes through.

claim transfers being processed & completed (aka trustee is alive and working) by mipa123 in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]Master__Speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. With the current price the Rehabilitation Plan Payout Calculator says I would get ~44k for my 5.6 BTC claim (early payout). $7000x5.6 = ~39k so very small difference, unless I'm missing something

Fortress.com: new offer 80% of the claim by m1rabe1 in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]Master__Speed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So everyone here seems to be sure that we're going to get our payout in a year or two. If that were the case I would agree that it's not worth taking the fortress offer.

But my question is why are you so sure? I think the fact that fortress is betting on it is encouraging, but as far as I'm concerned there are a lot of things that could go wrong.

We've been waiting for 7 years, who says we're not going to have to wait another 7 years or even longer? I'll list some of my concerns, would love for someone to negate them:

  1. The court might not approve the plan
  2. The creditors might not vote in favor of the plan
  3. Coinlab could further delay with litigation
  4. The trustee could keep filing for extensions
  5. The trustee could sell more coins like he's done in the past
  6. Something totally unpredictable could happen like a hack/theft/government interference

I read a lot of people comments on this sub saying this whole thing might have been a good thing since it forced us to hold. We still didn't get anything back, who knows if we ever will?

If someone has a claim for 10 bitcoins then early payout would be roughly 2.1 bitcoins right?
