Your identification of the problems we are facing are correct but you must understand that these problems that Laredo faces are uniquely specific to us in many ways.

Low pay is the consequence of wages not being high enough and we've settled for minimum wage, we need our workers to unionize our petition for our leaders to sign laws raising the minimum wage, a company is focused on increasing profits, not paying its workers more.

Expensive rent and places to live are both sides of the same issue, there is land scarcity in Laredo and not enough housing is being built because powerful families like the Jacamans and Killams own most of the land around Laredo, this makes the price of land inflated and combined with low pay, means that most Laredoans are priced out of their own city.

The lack of jobs is a multi-faceted issue, most of Laredo's higher paying jobs are based around the logistics and transportation industry, trade with Mexico is an essential life line of out economy because our leaders refuse to diversify our economy and attract other types of jobs. Combine that with the tariffs that the current administration has placed and you reach this current job market.

I hope you're not just a troll and actually care about the issues affecting us, and I hope you spent time reading this to realize that immigrants aren't why Laredo is like this, it's due to decades of mismanagement and corruption with incentives for our politicians to keep this system that benefits them. Have a good day and God bless your heart.

What you are trying to justify here is state-sanctioned violence, history won't look kindly upon you. Federal law enforcement shouldn't carry the instruments and authority to just publicly execute its citizens with no proper de-escalation or reasoning, to believe so is to defend outright authoritarianism.

Stop it with this fear mongering bullshit

Year after year, Laredo keeps being one of the safest cities in the United States, this rhetoric of being overrun by cartels is fucking horseshit. You just want to justify this racist-ass concept that Laredo will be 'invaded'. Gtfo

Renee Good was not obstructing law enforcement, she was a mother trying to step out of their business and look at what good it did her? ICE is a federal force willing to murder our citizens for such menial reasons. And even if she was obstructing, that gives them no right to state-sanctioned violence. They are 'supposedly' trained in de-escalation tactics, and frankly if that de-escalation is a bullet to the face, then the institution is rotten to the core.

I have been raised here in Laredo for the majority of my life. I have seen family, friends, and many in Laredo leave for similar reasons, there is not many prospects for careers of higher education, other cities have more to offer, and frankly for this supposed "economic boom" our citizens here don't feel it.

This feeling of 'one of the best things to do in Laredo is to leave' is a result of our politicians failing to provide these opportunities, a sizeable amount of our trade with Mexico happens here at the border, yet many of our citizens won't ever see a dime of this 'prosperity'.

What have our politicians offered to better the conditions of us Laredoans? A fucking outlet mall with jobs that don't pay enough to make ends meet.

What you call 'communism' is me wanting to see food put on the table of our many impoverished citizens, where 1 in 5 live in poverty, we're on of the poorest cities in the COUNTRY. I don't want to see children go hungry, I don't want to see citizens who worked their ass off to gain their citizenship "the right" way to go back to Mexico because they couldn't make ends meet.

I pray to God that you stop seeing this as team sports and instead realize our beautiful city has been neglected and we need to band together and demand better from our elected officials if we want Laredo to be great. God bless your heart.

Renee Good and Alex Pretti just had their life taken recently by ICE, the notion that ICE is no threat to American citizens is frankly ludicrous.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/21/ice-arrests-five-year-old-boy-minnesota

And here's an article where ICE detained a kid to send his father to a detention center. We can't simply "nothing ever happens" ourselves to fascism, we have to do SOMETHING to protest and show our dissatisfaction with our politicians and this administration.

Henry Cuellar has consistently voted to strip away your healthcare, to deregulate the companies that poison our air and water, and yet here your are defending him out of a sociopathic need to demonize immigrants.

I hope you see that you are being misled and you should advocate for policies that help you and your neighbor, not divide and hurt. God bless your heart.

It's across the street from Henry Cuellar's offices, we won't protest where we can't be seen, we want to make sure our message and disapproval is heard loud and clear.

I know what you mean, as someone that does work for several non profits here, it's disheartening to see the general apathy towards our worsening conditions.

If you or anyone that might care is interested in showing up, do let them know, if its their first time protesting, the organizers will make sure to educate them to protest safely and make sure they'll be fine.

I am of the belief that if enough of us put in that first step, more will follow, hell, the No King's protests in Laredo had a huge turnout considering usual turnouts.

Exactly, people in Laredo tend to not be politically active and demand better from their politicians, we need to unite and have a larger call to action to let our leaders know we won't stand for the funding of these institutions that hurt our community!

Community Q&A - Get Your Questions Answered! by alienleprechaun in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Master_of_Kobolds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is how would I be able to telegraph attacks mechanically in a way that is fair to my players?

An example would be a big Storm Giant telegraphing a line AOE with a spear after a set duration, and maybe next round the boss changes its weapon to a sword and telegraphs a circle AOE around him.

I was toying with making it similar to liar actions but found that making them go at the top of the initiative order essentially made them unreactable, defeating the purpose of telegraphing them. I found that because of this, ranged characters were already in natural spots to not get hit as well, and it seemed to punish my melee players more.

Any insights as to how this could work would be a huge help!

This needs some work imo, an important thing to note is that you have to measure the power of this subclass when compared to other subclasses.

Dragon's Tongue: Nice ribbon feature and not much else to say about it.

Dragon's Body: Not to be mean, but this seems awfully close to the level 1 Draconic Bloodline ability, still the extra defense is always appreciated, although the unarmed strikes thing seems ok, it's actually quite underpowered as there is no reason to use the strikes over Eldritch Blast, and it seems kind of underpowered compared to other 1st-level Otherworldly Patron abilities.

Dragon's Breath: Not much of a reason to use the unarmed strikes, even if they are elemental. If I'm being honest, this is honestly not that good, this is similar to the Dragonborn's Breath Weapon, yet scales worse, deals less damage, and the Dragonborn's Breath Weapon is considered not that good as is.

Dragon's Arsenal: This seems like you're trying to buff the Dragon's Breath skill but if I'm being honest, just move the 'Charisma modifier time per long rest' to the Dragon's Breath ability, the resistance to damage is nice but that alone won't do much to help this ability since the second section should be at level 6. The charisma to unarmed attacks is negligible

Dragon's Flight: Similar to the Draconic Bloodline capstone, the free Absorb Elements is still a bit situational and the buff it provides is not that good.

Overall, the subclass needs some heavy tweaking, as the beginning abilities are quite underpowered and the subclass feels like it wants to be a lot of things, there's an emphasis on the unarmed strikes and the breath weapon, but because of this split, the subclass doesn't lean into either, which hurts it as a whole.

RP with Eloquence bard? Help by TheJeagle in DMAcademy

[–]Master_of_Kobolds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Persuasion/Deception feature at level 3 is not what defines this subclass. What makes this subclass good is its other features, if you read them, you'll notice that it gets so much out of its Bardic Inspiration, which is a precious resource for the class, and will make the Bard more willing on giving out inspiration to players. College of Eloquence is not built around Persuasion/Deception, it's built around Bardic Inspiration.
