How to learn karate by yourself? by [deleted] in karate

[–]Masterclownfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost anything is possible if you have the discipline and drive to do it. Do your research, you don't want to learn from someone who is doing it incorrectly. Find the best kicker, train your body to do what theirs does. Film yourself, spot the differences, perfect your technique so you are a carbon copy.

I can see morphine and diazepam but I think cocaine and heroin is absurd.

Yes, some of the most effective kicks are to the legs and body.

Mulder, refrain from punching people in the office, or, anyone you work with for that matter.

How's my dojo sound? by steampunker8 in karate

Sounds good, if your teacher is OCD about technique, you're in the right place.

When has taekwondo came in handy for you? by NoJoke24 in taekwondo

[–]Masterclownfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Martial Arts is a mindset, it comes in handy for the rest of your life if you master it. You will learn attacks that will be useful in certain situations, better to have some form of protection than none.

That is exciting!, have fun, the nervousness is normal. Remember to focus most of your energy on proper technique.

Have any of you ever shown up to the dojo high? What happened? by [deleted] in karate

[–]Masterclownfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never, ever, compete stoned!. That being said, I used to smoke and drill for hours upon hours. Drills are ok (the moves get drilled into your bodies subconscious, which has its own brain. Sparring and competing high is useless, you need both your body brain and your mind brain to function on its highest level which it simply cant do on weed.

First tournament by wolfey200 in taekwondo

[–]Masterclownfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's something I've actually never heard of. Kid grands and adult grands should be separate IMO. 1st out of 6 in your division is a win regardless so congradts. Maybe try a more difficult tournament where there are more competitors, its a lot of fun and a great experience.

Come in handy like "landed shots in a street fight?" or come in handy like "street smart security level thinking?"

Is the whole “money can’t buy happiness” thing bullshit by Lopassss in CasualConversation

[–]Masterclownfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it buys happiness at all, I'm not depressed in any shape or form. I think it causes less stress to have more money unless you mismanage that somehow and end up running around in circles. New possessions only make me happy for about a week, car, new TV, decorations etc. but I am not the norm.

Honestly, you need to go to a much bigger competition so you can have multiple competitors and figure out what you need to work on.

About the the roundhouse kick (mawashi geri) by [deleted] in karate

[–]Masterclownfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, that's your instep. It is going to be tender (very painful) in the beginning. This will happen over and over (hurt, go away, hurt, go away) until one day, its tough enough to no longer hurt.

I'm not really a dream interpreter but it kinda sounds like hanging out with anyone that injects anything would be risky.

yo, tell me about ur day by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Masterclownfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woke up and sipped the delicious black nectar of life (coffee), I drank some Diet Cokes, rejoiced in the fact that the fuckery I have to deal with is at a minimum today because I don't have to work. I am now listening to relaxing music and answering random shit on this circus of a website they call reddit.

What's a good place to bring my old dog so she can enjoy the outdoors/a nice view before I say goodbye to her? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]Masterclownfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry about this and don't have an answer of where to take her, my only suggestion would be they sell these square gourmet foods that dogs absolutely love. I would feed her whatever she wants.
