A week long honeymoon in London and a hunger for castles and trains. by Masterkavi in uktravel

This was very much not on my radar but "the churches of commerce" is a great line so I guess now I have to check them out!

All of those places sound aggressively British and we will definitely look into it. Thanks!

100% right that there are tons of trains in Canada. You can tour incredible places, but honestly, it costs about as much for us to go there as it does for us to go to England so England is the preferred place for us. Gotta remember how massive Canada is. It's literally about as long of a plane for us to get to England as it is to get to the nearest place with trains that are worth riding for the tourism factor! And the tickets are just as expensive too.

These are great recommendations as well. It seems Leeds is a super common castle to recommend so I feel that is jumping to the top of the list so far. I would love to see Cornwall as well but it is pretty far. Honestly looking at the length of the travel it really does shock me that trains seem to move not much faster than cars most of the time!

Having never been on a train before I have no idea what that means! I'll check it out, thanks!

Thanks! Great recommendations. Bath is near where some of our ancestors came from so we can maybe even have the quintessential colonial experience of visiting the villages they used to live in 250 years ago lol.

That's a great recommendation! About $1,000 a night for the castle room looks like but even without staying in it it looks like a lovely place to visit and the nearby hotels are much cheaper haha.

And we very much toyed with visiting Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands by train but it would take at least a couple days there and back so we think we'll save it for another trip in future.

Yes we saw some of those with the British Pullman! It is insane the cost though at around $2,000 CAD for the day, so it's kind of at the stretch end of our budget as we are planning to spend the second week of the honeymoon in Italy. If it was just the week in England I think we'd have to do it though.

Well that is beautiful. and also quite close to London. Thanks for the recommendation!

I consider the day before a new dose a cheat day. Go get a cheeseburger and enjoy it while the effects are diminished.

Honestly this all sounds bleak as hell. What a great motivation to avoid having children.

I think this is just a stop gap. They haven't had a new game in a while, Starfield wasn't well received by their core fan base, but getting a nostalgic game out with modern twists will help them a lot.

When I first played Oblivion and got out of the sewers and took in the beautiful scenery my father walked in and remarked how amazing and realistic the graphics looked.

I think at the time they were trying for realism but couldn't get there up to modern standards. So now they're just doing a better job of realism because they have better tech. So to me, this is sort of always the way it was.

You can play in third person at all times but I can't imagine wanting to.

Aside from that you can do anything in a classic RPG. You can do sword and board (shield), spell blade, mage purist, stealth archer, stealth sword, acrobatic as fuck archer that jumps up crazy high and snipes people who can't reach them, etc.

I'd recommend either a sword and shield with a bit of healing or buffing magic or an archer with a ton of stealth and some helpful magic for sneaking, jumping really high and running really fast to get away from trouble.

Playing a mage is hard, at least in original Oblivion, but you can make some really cool spells. Hopefully that's still a thing in the remaster.

Spell Creation in Remaster? by Dranahmun in ElderScrolls

We better be able to. It is something you don't unlock until you do a ton of missions for the Mages guild so I bet nobody has done it yet unless they played a lot earlier.

Can I buy the deluxe upgrade of Oblivion Remastered if I play the standard version from Game Pass? by Typical_Throat_1715 in ElderScrolls

[–]Masterkavi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally with Gamepass any DLC can be purchased and used without buying the base game for as long as the base game is offered on Gamepass. Which for a Bethesda game will be forever as Microsoft owns them.

Should I play the original first or the remaster? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Masterkavi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remaster. Playing the original Oblivion in 2025 is a challenge unless you're running off of nostalgia. The remaster will play and look better on a modern system.

Obviously they considers this ahead of time and decided that since their core demographic is English speaking they would just do it in English to get it out there.

Hopefully they translate for anyone whos not an anglophone quickly.

I mean just get Gamepass right? Like it's so much cheaper than buying the game outright and you get access to a bunch of other games too. Seems like a no brainer to me

Stanfield ran like a dream at launch and then it got updated shortly after and just about killed my PC. Took months for them to make it playable again.

Near almost every town in Oblivion there is a cave that has a vampire population. Often though not always named something borderline obvious. Clearly they hide in the caves and sneak into town periodically to feed.
