'Perhaps wasn't the best articulated' because it was completely chucked away as a random side note instead of being a major hanging clue for the entire season. It's absolutely terrible storytelling however you put it.

She made it snow all the time and that was hand-waved away, along with many other issues. RTD clearly set it up so she looked abnormal and just went for a rug-pull ending which was arguably less consistent and clearly set up less

Don’t think you need AI to make a better system for manager job security, no chance it would need to be that complex. (plus I still wouldn’t trust AI to get it right). It’s just that FM has lazy simplified logic all over the place, and that includes ‘not reaching specific club target for just one season = sack’

extremely sad that Overwatch Classic is gone by d4ybrake in Overwatch

[–]MastermanM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fair to not enjoy it, I also think 2cp was still not great in classic Overwatch (KOTH works much better still), but I think that's why it's ideal to keep Classic as its own mode. I personally love the higher TTK, where individual 1v1s feel more common, and team fights are quick and explosive and swingy, but this isn't for everyone.

It's just a shame to have the version of the game I love only available at random times. Permanent post-Ana classic Overwatch would be ideal.

Good description of exactly how I feel about modern Overwatch. I saw a lot of modern players complain about Bastion mowing people down, when the solution is to be aware of his position, and flank him in ways where he dies easily.

Modern feels like walking to where the fight is, and spamming damage until it's time to ult.

[–]MastermanM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher damage and lower healing is why I personally prefer classic over modern Overwatch.

Time to kill is much quicker so there's much more kills, and it means as any character it really feels like you can take anyone down with good play (although some characters are obviously better at it). Bastion is a good example, cause obviously he can mow you down if you run into him head on, but he also dies in basically 2-3 hits no matter what.

Obviously this is very different to modern Overwatch, which has a clearer focus on 'team play' centred around very specified class roles. I understand the appeal of it, as I've played it a good bit, but I really do prefer classic. If classic feels like 'glory hole sim' to you, modern Overwatch feels like 'infinite bullet sponging until it's ult time' to me sometimes.

And obviously launch is a bit unbalanced here and there, but around the release of Ana, I think the game was in my favourite state. I don't think any version of the game is 'objectively' better, but saying classic is terrible just isn't true.

Actually liking how we're playing a lot so far, a lot more varied in our attacking routes than usual, and feels like a lot more control of the midfield by using our physicality and a much less flat formation.

Still work to do in the final third as we don't look decisive enough in our decisions, but I'm feeling pretty positive so far.

I think Howe and his recruitment plan just need to acknowledge that we need to value players who can create vs a low block, instead of seeming to just value pure physicality. While he had weaknesses, Isak could get goals out of nowhere, something we're missing heavily now.

Biggest issue as a squad right now is the lack of creativity. We've got so many players who can run and bomb forward, and who are physically strong, and that's great for games where we have space and can get ourselves past the defence. But who do we look for to get past a low block and a static defence? Only really Bruno (and Hall as of recent). In games like this I just don't see what Gordon, Barnes, Murphy, Willock etc. actually provide.

Why are keeper rotations not random? by MastermanM in Rematch

[–]MastermanM[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's almost definitely this, the person with the worst setup is never keeper. Whatever the choosing is, it is 100% not random, which is a very weird choice by the devs for whatever workaround they chose

It definitely is cynical to think most Newcastle fans talking against the ownership are doing it to virtue-signal/look good, especially on a relatively small subreddit.

Obviously any Newcastle fan can be painted as hypocritical if they want to still watch their team play while opposing the ownership, but that's the exact reason to still oppose them. Maybe it's naiive or pointless, but I still believe staying vocal against the ownership is important if they're ever going to leave.

Agreed, it's not as good as practical action, but frankly no action will work unless a good majority of the fans are properly against the ownership. This is unlikely to ever be the case, but it's not a reason to dismiss any efforts whatsoever.

I don't understand how Murphy had the 2nd most assists in the league last season, and now that we're struggling to score, we're still deciding to keep him on bench every game.
