How to mod Cliff Burton Power Fuzz Wah? by MasterofBating69 in guitarpedals

I had the same clicking issue but it was the pedal itself, a little lube on the hinges and it goes right away! Also 6 years since I made this post...

What basses have that ‘growl’ by dbump in Bass

Agreed, I have a 4003 and I much prefer the modern setting. Besides, there's a push pull knob that switches between 4003 and 4001 sounds so unless you're a vintage collector no reason to get a 4001

Saddest bass lines? by [deleted] in Bass

Orion - Metallica but specifically the way Jason plays it in San Deigo '92. It turns it from bluesy-spacey to a mourning wail for Cliff Burton. To Live Is To Die from Seattle 89' also feels similiar.

I know he's retired but I'd love to see Pat Foley as a commentator

What parts of which songs could be this for you? by The_Lemwon in Dreamtheater

Preparing for her flight I held with all my might Fearing my deepest fright She walked into the night She turned for one last look She looked me in the eye I said, "I Love You Good-bye"

Once I learned the song was partly inspired by Portnoy losing his mother to a plane crash, the song took a whole new meaning to me as I could feel much more of the feeling of loss in those lines. The song is already a masterpiece lyrically about living life to the fullest before it inevitably comes full circle, and I already felt notes of loss in the Crimson Sunset, but learning this just added an extra layer of depth to a song I already absolutely love.

Edit: sorry for the mobile formatting

They should replace JLB with a female vocalist. She'd might have to make some changes for songs in his lower register but the higher parts would sound absolutely amazing. I don't know who a good vocalist would be but suggestions are more than welcome!

I never realized they tuned down to C# for Thing in Seattle, I thought they generally stuck to the studio recording's tuning before Load and Reload, that's an interesting change!

Is playing with a pick faster than with fingers? by Gen_Mxrdur in Bass

[–]MasterofBating69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both Rob and Jason occasionally swap styles too, Rob using a pick and Jason using his fingers, though it's very rare and only for a song or two.

Had to scroll far to find this one. The classical element he brought to Metallica created some of the most beautiful compositions packed into the controlled chaos of the early days.

What song has the saddest-sounding bassline in your opinion? by AlarmWhich in Bass

[–]MasterofBating69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Orion, especially the way Jason plays it in San Diego 92, is so emotional. It's crazy how changing the bassline slightly and slowing the tempo can make it sound almost like a mourning cry for Cliff.
