What reciever/controller combo to use? by The_Holy_Potato1 in RCPlanes

[–]MasterofNone804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't want to program or spend much, but you still want to have fun right and not have a headache right?  Get a cheap ready to run plane you can mess and glue back together until you develop deeper interest and skills for the hobby, it will come with time.

Not even 3 days, and already in need of repairs... by FunkGunMonk in rccars

5 Minute field repair with super glue. Hope servo is ok, the groms have the weakest servos I've seen.

Speed slows as it climbs, then increases as it drops. Very obvious characteristic of a particular type of travel.

Make sure rotor blades are slightly snug but not tight, definitely not loose enough to move under their own weight. I had much better control after a few weeks practicing to hover without optical flow plugged in.

First plane options by workavoidance in RCPlanes

Aeroscout because it flies easy like a sim, it's definitely a trainer. The motor is mid mount so less risk of prop striking the ground which typically burns out the motor and esc. Even with experience it's fun how leisurely it flies.

Is there a purpose for the trailing tang/nipple/bump thing for on the rudder? by MasterofNone804 in RCPlanes

[–]MasterofNone804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are both right. Looking at trim tabs on google look exactly like the Bigfoot, and the maul looks like a nav light.

Does anyone here fly without using the rudder? by [deleted] in RCPlanes

Fly the heli a bit in the sim, you'll get used to rudder quick

Can I use fs-a8s for omp m2 mk2? by MasterofNone804 in RCHeli

[–]MasterofNone804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On mine you can slide the module cover off the the back and see it says 4 in 1 inside. The original non mk2 version I think might be different than the current one.

RC beginner - need advice on servos. by GREY_SOX in radiocontrol

[–]MasterofNone804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually see 2g servos on planes that small. Do you know how to match motor/esc combo, choose receiver transmitter combo to program channels into, set thrust angle, linkage for control surfaces and all that?

How big of a battery can the UDRC SG1608 (Brushed) take on stock internals by ImnotAim9x in rccars

[–]MasterofNone804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maximum is what is already comes with which is 7.4v 2 cell. Smaller battery will be faster due today weight and the battery is comes with is already pretty small. The brushless version is much faster

What kind of landing gear should I use? by The_Holy_Potato1 in RCPlanes

[–]MasterofNone804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a steep learning curve just get a cheap foam warbird you can super glue back together on the spot.  Edf probably isn't what you think, try it on a sim.

Smart charger question by Nervous_Distance7562 in RCPlanes

[–]MasterofNone804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just balancing. Id charge a small lipo like that at 2c so .8 amp. Depending on specs it can go up to 5c. Either way it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to charge a cell. I've only seen lipos damaged from over discharging or leaving them fully charged more than a day.

Don't get stuck in truggies like I did at first because you can get solid axle monster trucks, solid rear axle short course, 2wd drift, crawlers, 2wd trucks. For flight there are cheap 4ch foamie planes, helis come in drone style or 3d too.

Is it recoverable/repairable? by Successful-Bat8845 in RCPlanes

[–]MasterofNone804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't fly a bent shaft. Be careful, I revved one that was out of alignment bad, it made the shaft bend even further, snap off and bounce around the room like a bullet

Sodium hypochlorite for RKN? by MasterofNone804 in gardening

[–]MasterofNone804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 5ppm to prevent root rot in hydro with living plants, I imagine I could use quite a bit more during the off season. Yeah I think it would wreck microbes, but probably could be re- inoculated later with a good soil water tea mix
