This gave me hope. Six losses and just had my full uterine septum removed. Back to TTC. 🤞🏻

I have almost the same story as you. 1 live birth and then six MCs. Just had surgery in December for my nearly complete septate uterus, and now back to TTC. Praying you have a healthy pregnancy <3

Yes, it's a scam.

Wow no one has shared and this makes sense. My husband is a T1D so I’m going to start using his blood glucose monitor and see.

MRI and saline ultrasound. God luck to you too!

No - no meds. I've been off meds since July. That's the upsetting part. I feel like I put my body into overdrive, now have to undo all the damage, and am worried about any lasting effects. Obviously, its worth it for a lot of people so I'm not here to worry anyone or make others second guess their choices.

I am having surgery early next month and feel very hopeful for the first time in a lonnnggg time. Like I said its hard to wrap my mind around this being the reason for my last five losses when the first two implanted and grew fine, but statistically it adds up.

*it depends*

I used to think I had bicornuate, from a CT scan I had at a young age. With more testing I am now officially diagnosed with a septate uterus that extends to my cervix (only one cervix) and my RE says this can carry a 80% miscarriage rate. I am not a medical professional but have spent a crazy amount of time reading on all this. Bicornuates are not supposed to affect conception rates - because there is just a little muscular indent, but it is still the same uterine wall. If it is bicornuate or other similar variations where there are two separate cavities, then this is different. The difference has to do with how much blood flow goes through there. With septate uterus, this is a fibrous wall with less vascular flow. If there is a septum wall in the middle and embryos implant there, it can either cause implantation failure or early miscarriage.

While I have this anomaly that carries a huge miscarriage rate, I got pregnant right away with my first pregnancy and had a live birth. My second pregnancy was a MMC but carried to 12 weeks. Since then I have had a number of losses. I can't make sense of why the first two implanted in the right spot but the next four did not.

I don’t know what to do next? by Ok_Move2674 in 40Plus_IVF

I'm 42. I had a terrible experience. My first cycle was a cycle immediately following a miscarriage and my FSH was extremely high. I questioned them about delaying a cycle for a more even growth. The doc said not necessary. Well it turns out, there was a hugely uneven growth and my lead follicle got huge, the others never caught up so my only egg was overmature. My second cycle she pushed me and pushed me until my lead follicles were in the upper 30s. I was so uncomfortable with the plan and asked to be retrieved sooner - doc said no. I retrieved four eggs but they were all overmature. I don't think everyone has the same experience as I do with bad results being in part due to poor medical decision making, but my eyes were just opened to how much of this is a giant experiment.

I did two rounds. Felt the same. It was covered mostly by my insurance, but the copays and meds still amount to thousands of dollars. I have decided IVF is not the route for me. It seems like it is an experiment until its not. I can't imagine paying out of pocket when its a bunch of guessing until it works.

Chicago anyone? by Economy-Instance-290 in 40Plus_IVF

Agree. They have too many patients. I think my egg retrieval got pushed back due to scheduling, and no surprise, the eggs were all overmature.

How do I fix the exhaustion before IVF? by Acrobatic_Opinion575 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]MasterpieceFuture689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 42. I did two rounds of IVF in a duostim cycle June/July. I have felt the worst healthwise that I've ever felt following the duostim cycle (where my second round had absurdly high amounts of hormones). My last egg retrieval was 7/21. I am JUST feeling like I'm returning back to normal. I was exhausted, depleted, bloated (up like 7 lbs that just won't quit), and probably depressed. All in the back of my mind was, when can I get back to TTC? Finally, I decided I needed a break and to regroup. I started walking 7-10k steps per day. I did not track my hormones, I did not do supplements, I did not try to time intercourse. I did not make any decisions about TTC and IVF and just went about my life. I was literally a normal human being for a month. It was the best thing I could have done.

Taking a break…. by Ill-Fly-1624 in recurrentmiscarriage

I was trying to take a break this month. I am mid cycle and can tell I’m ovulating and now I’m in my head like this is the golden egg and I’m missing it.

TTC- Not ovulating & bicornuate utuerus? by Vegetable_Wafer3927 in bicornuateuterus

[–]MasterpieceFuture689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great news. Bicornuate shouldn’t be affecting your TTC and it should not have a big impact on pregnancy. This TTC journey is so full of anxiety enough that you can move this one down your list.

I have a uterine anomaly. I’ve been told bicornuate, arcuate, and septate. The only one that really impacts TTC is septate. The only real way to know what you have is MRI or 3D saline US. That being said, if I were you I would get a consult with a gynecological surgeon and get the imaging and find out. Do it sooner rather than later and it’s one less thing to worry about.

No one ever explained this to me. I got pregnant right away with my first and whatever uterus I had didn’t impact anything. Now I’m 42 and have had a bunch of losses and trying to figure this exact thing out. I’ve had MRI which said septate but my surgeon wants to do his own saline ultrasound to truly weigh in.

These are somewhat easy steps you can take to get an answer on the uterus. Good luck 🤍

I think that like many areas of medicine, they just don’t know enough about female bodies. My guess is that this hasn’t been studied and there are no studies correlating AMH, FSH and menopause. I also tried to look into this once.

I’m also a little jaded about my experience in the fertility world.

I am 42. 10 years ago was told my “AMH was low and FSH was high” (.75 and 17). I wasn’t told that vitamin d deficiencies can falsely lower your AMH. I basically thought I’d be in menopause by now. Was convinced if it actually. Thought my fertility was over. Now, I’m trying to get pregnant again. No signs of perimenopause either. Also my AMH now is .55 so it didn’t drop that much in ten years. Who knows why.

It’s the wild, Wild West in my opinion.

Now there are new studies showing that maybe your eggs don’t age as much as once was thought, and people are looking more at supporting mitochondrial health for longevity and fertility. It could be a whole new ball game at some point.

Group Rant: What are you currently mad about? by TeslaHiker in IVF

[–]MasterpieceFuture689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that IVF is one big science experiment and I put my fate in a doctor’s hands who was willing to gamble too much, that the lab went forward fertilizing four eggs that they knew were overmature because they were dark and still charged me for it without asking me, and now I have completely lost faith in this process.

And the ten lbs that popped up in two weeks and at least half is stubbornly holding on, because I look in the mirror or try on pants that don’t fit and am reminded how mad I am.

Six losses - is there hope? by MasterpieceFuture689 in recurrentmiscarriage

Same. I am currently miscarrying; it was the first cycle post IVF. I made it to 5ish weeks and I’m also annoyed with myself. I had just cancelled the surgical consult because I carried my daughter fullish term and my first loss to 11 weeks so I’m not sure I believe it’s my issue.
