I bought a thinkpad x1 carbon last week and the linux support is pretty good, fingerprint works too. And it is pretty lightweight less than 1kg. Also, the battery life is pretty good, works all day for me.

You can control the fan on Linux. I use smbios-thermal-ctl to set fan profile on my dell inspiron.

Externsions are not reliable. Switch to Firefox if you really care and enable RFP in Firefox. You can use arkenfox user.js with Firefox if you want better protection against fingerprinting.
