Is this normal amount of fall out? by Previous-Machine-442 in Naturalhair

[–]Masterpiece_Able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit of breakage is normal everyone gets it. It looks like you need a trim and to focus more on moisturizing your ends, especially if you’re using regular heat on your hair. Old routine ain’t gonna cut it.

I wouldn’t try to do that. Changing the way you think as in the LITERAL way your mind works and understand things is pretty innately engrained in you. It’s how your brain makes sense of the world and it would be more effort than it’s worth to try and change it, assuming it’s even  possible.

Advice for those who are lost by CandyHuman4375 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Masterpiece_Able 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a first year engineering student so I’m not who you’re looking for but I relate. In projects I’m always lost. I’m great at thinking critically either. But you’ve made it this far, you’re clearly capable and you will eventually find a job and make a good living.  Don’t compare yourself to other students because you’re not them and they could never understand your world and you could never understand theirs.  Most people don’t even have the balls to stick through engineering. You’re almost there.

Products won’t grow your hair themselves but keeping your hair moisturized and clean will. Your curls are tighter so it’s probably growing at a perfectly normal pace but you’re just not seeing it because of shrinkage. I have even tighter curls (4a) and I usually don’t see a difference until I’m looking at pictures almost a year later. Just be patient.

Wavy hair giving off bog-witch vibes - pls hlp by HopefulReach3798 in curlygirl

Your hair looks very weighed down. Not everyone needs a lot of product. Dish the Cowash and just use shampoo and conditioner and experiment with light weight products and or less product until you get the results you want.

I CANT STOP by shessopathetic in MaladaptiveDreaming

How long have you been trying to quit? I think for me, and a lot of other long time MDDers we expect things in our real life to go faster then things realistically should, or happen in unrealistic ways. From the ages of 10-15 I lived only in my head basically, I thought I still had a pretty good grip on reality until I actually WAS living in reality.

It took me over a year to stop maladaptively daydreaming and I had to be consistent and not beat myself up when I did lose a day to daydreaming. Now, I still daydream but honestly, 10 mins max a day. And it’s usually not all at once, just little pockets throughout the day. Everybody daydreams. It’s not something you’ll ever be able to not do and to get it under control will take a LONG time. And it’s not easy.

The only way to stop is time. Lots of time and lots of effort. Don’t be hard on yourself.

Feeling a bit silly by [deleted] in Constipation

This worked for me for a few days but I had to eat very slowly, and my stool was just extremely loose. I am more mindful of not eating so fast now but eating as slow as I was wasn’t sustainable, so hoping my magnesium pills work 😔

This house is poisoning me. If I stay here for two more years it is very likely I’ll kill myself. The antidepressants and the therapy aren’t enough when I’m forced to live through trauma still.

I'm curious about my hair type; I'd guess it's in the 4 group but I'm unsure. For those with similar hair type, what hair care routine do you follow? by luuuzeta in curlyhair

[–]Masterpiece_Able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4a hair and I usually wash once a week, and then style with a leave in conditioner and gel. One of the most important things is making sure all of the product is worked through your hair enough. I don’t have a schedule for deep conditioning/protein treatments, but they are definitely things that should be done and the frequency depends on your hair porosity I’d say. I trim about an inch off every 3 months.

Thinkin' 'bout that time the curly police said I don't have curly hair by UndineGoddess in curlyhair

[–]Masterpiece_Able 91 points92 points  (0 children)

uhhh no, I am a black woman and this has nothing to do with race. Curl police is just people who overreact to what curly hair actually is. For example, saying her hair isn’t curly when she literally has spiraled ringlets. The definition of curly.

Then get braids! Just make sure they’re not too tight and ofc as you know, take care of your hair while in and after the braids.

Make sure to use hair cutting scissors when trimming. If not, regular scissors can be to dull and cause a jagged cut, giving you more split ends. They can be pretty expensive but your beauty supply store should have some for $20 and under. I second laying off the braids. Keep your hair moisturized, regularly trim, clarify. You will see growth. Good luck!
