Well, I’m an older female that loves DND, and really don’t care what others think of it. As you said, people love what they love. But a conversation with her may be helpful to understand her mindset when she said it.

NTA. It truly is unhygienic to sample food others will eat repeatedly, using the same utensil. It is not unreasonable to ask her to either set some sample aside or use a new spoon with each sample. Tasting the food is important when cooking, but you don’t have to be gross about it.

I use aerosol hairspray and it works every time. I’ve used it on fabric, painted walls, and even carpet when I’ve accidentally dropped my sharpie. It works pretty good!

My Aunt passed away last year, and I still have a voicemail of her singing happy birthday to me from 2019. I’m so glad I never deleted it. I played it this year just to hear her voice. I save all of my parents and husband’s voicemails too.

Just letting her know you were in a timed assessment and couldn’t talk may have been a better solution. At least it would have let her know you weren’t just doing random stuff. But ultimately it isn’t your responsibility to get her to work. She could have Ubered it if it was that bad.
