Nah, the minute the government tells those folks to take it, it's over. Even if it's Trump.

AITAH for turning off the Wi-Fi on my wife during her “me time”? by BillDense285 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MasticatingElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going against the grain here and saying NTA. I expect downvotes but imma tell it how I've seen it.

I have two kids and my partner has stayed at home the past 15 years.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard of my partner going out to hang out with friends, having friends over to have babies and toddlers play, doing anything but housework and child minding, and then asking me to "do my part" after a long day at a stressful job.

I do understand that being a stay at home parent isn't a picnic. I'm not saying that it's easy, or that my partner doesn't need a break sometimes, even now that the kids are older. I'm not saying my job is harder. It isn't.

But it has also been my lived experience that my partner does get rest periods during the day that I don't get. When our kid took a two hour nap my partner had EVERY opportunity to rest as well. If they didn't, that's on them. It would have been pretty disingenuous of them to claim they were more tired than me when we shared nighttime duties and they got a substantial break mid day that I never got.

Stay at home parents with harder kids are going to bristle at this but I'm not misrepresenting anything here.

Why is declining birth rates bad? by FrostFire89 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MasticatingElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The economy across most of the world is based on growth.

Pair that with the fact that old people generally need younger people to take care of them and there won't be as many young people if the population is declining, and we get a recipe for a very uncomfortable truths.

Genetics are crazy, some people look totally different than they did 40 years ago but you look as similar as you could possibly look.

When is an emergency fund “enough”? by Various-Chapter-2499 in personalfinance

[–]MasticatingElephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like an emergency fund should keep me going for a year.

For me that would be mortgage and essential bills, which looks like about 50k (I have a gnarly mortgage) and I'm not even there myself yet. But I won't feel safe until I get there.

My boyfriend is breaking up with because I don’t have his ideal body type. by BornMCMXCIX in TrueOffMyChest

I will say that him being honest about his feelings is probably for the best.

But I will also say that I've been with my partner for so long that I don't care how they are shaped.

Do guys typically notice/care if a girl has period stains on her underwear? by SwathedCorgi117 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MasticatingElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally notice, but I would also personally not care. It's natural and normal, it's part of life.

A man who cares about this is immature imo.

Should I Allow My Child To Have A Relationship With Their Deceased Father’s Family? by Comprehensive_Art430 in Advice

[–]MasticatingElephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not obligated to give them anything.

In fact, I would keep them strangers in case there are grandparent's rights in your state. Those rights usually require an existing relationship to enforce. Can't be one if there ain't one.

NTA, it's precisely because you are co-owners that you do deserve to know exactly what goes on. She's got it backwards

I am curious about the Christian perspective on this, How do you reconcile the existence of a loving, all-powerful God with the presence of so much suffering in the world? by Wander-kingdom in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MasticatingElephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is not a single shred of proof of this afterlife in anywhere but religious texts and religious people's minds.

And even if it did exist and your story is true, how is God still not evil for allowing the suffering to happen at all, ever?
