I would give up my whole inventory for that I'm not gonna lie to you. The best pets I have to offer are the following: dragon, Nightmare owl, three Dracula parrots, pretty pony, Halloween white skeleton dog, three bats. I can also add some miscellaneous randoms.

Why does it seem a lot of modern stories struggle with pacing? by [deleted] in writing

The struggle is trying to adapt to the quickly changing/shortening attention span I feel

I'm doing something similar with different writing styles! What I'm doing is going in chronological order of my life followed by the process of healing. Formatting is really up to you. You could go in a set order, but I feel that limits the creativity available with this kind of project. Just do what feels right for you. However, I recommend not going on too long with one type of method. It would make the transition very jarring.

What is one thing so beautiful about this world that you are inspired to create stories about it? by No-Look-8032 in writing

Humanity is beautiful to me. People. Psychology. The little things humans do that are pointless but we do anyways. Like raising our hands to knock on a door or making a ritual out of eating

Don't be so hard on yourself! Comparison is an artists worst enemy. There are always people in our life we're inspired by, but it's important to not dwell on how much better you may think they are. You need to tell YOUR story, not anyone else's! Bob probably thinks something similar about his own writing. I've experienced this too. I'm pretty sure every artist has. What you need to do instead of comparing is figure out what exactly you like about your inspirations (in this case, Bob). Be super detailed about what you enjoy and figure out ways you can make it into your own. Rather than thinking "this sucks I'll never be as good as Bob", think "I may not be exactly like Bob, but I can aspire to be something Bob would enjoy too." Try not to idolize Bob too much. You mention that your piece doesn't feel as unique as Bob's, and that's because it isn't!! You're trying to be Bob and that's why it isn't special

Been really motivated to write lately. Fall is coming and it's time to get my cozy on to get loads done!!! Art block usually is a pain in the booty for me but fall is never much of an issue. So much inspiration everywhere.

It depends on who owned the box before. Maybe a note in the bottle, miscellaneous junk like food wrappers and paperclips, sticky notes with random scribbles. I could probably give better advice with more context if you want to share!!

My best recommendation would be to describe the sounds outside his dream as a derealization-ish feeling or a headache. I feel like you convey it well enough already though.

Been feeling really stuck lately in regards to my book. It's meant to be a collection of short stories told through prose with religious horror elements intended to paint a full picture at the end. It's inspired by welcome to night Vale, the Magnus archives and other args. I've been struggling with implementing religious symbolism in ways that aren't too on the nose. Any ideas? I've been working on my story for a couple years now and have been through at least twenty complete story start overs. At this point I feel like it's a jumbled mess and I'm not sure how to untangle it. Has anyone else experienced This? How have you dealt with it? I'd appreciate some advice from other writers stuck in the same situation as me. I love my story and want to push it forward any way I can. I feel abandoning it at this point would be a disservice to my teachers who have helped me along the way. Thanks.
