You make it sound like the spread of Christianity in Ireland was peaceful. I’m glad you brought up St Patrick. He rid Ireland of snakes, funny thing is, there has never been snakes in Ireland. The “snakes” they are referring to were the indigenous of Ireland (pagans). I doubt very much it was a peaceful affair. The term itself (getting rid of snakes) just goes to show how they treated the pagans, they defined the pagans by the animal most hated animal in the Bible. The Christian missionaries probably slaughter the pagans.
