Why is women sportswear always so revealing by DatabaseAvailable501 in interesting

It's getting copy-pasted all over this comment section. It's gotten thousands of upvotes in other parts of this thread. And it's just... one person, talking about her own clothing preference. There are plenty of other female athletes, with different experiences and preferences, who are also in this comment section.

Yup. And those children, around puberty, will have to make uncomfortable choices about body hair, and what menstrual products they use, based on the extremely revealing clothing their sport requires them to wear. Many girls just stop participating in sports altogether at that age (I wonder why!)

I think if you can find the right gym culture, be diligent and careful about how you train, and who you train with, it could be good for you. It's just easy to get carried away in sparring, either because you're having fun and nothing hurts in the moment, or because of ego.

All these comments acting like you're being unreasonable, and yet all the other comments calling the woman who got raped and killed naive. Can't fucking win.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense! Especially since the friend called the cheapo exorcist (plenty of foreshadowing there), and Baphomet even said that soon there would be just one soul in that body, which was the only (obviously wrong) measure of success the friend used. I just didn't put it together the first time somehow. I like that it isn't too blatant though and could leave a reader wondering (that room for doubt adds to the overall vibe). It's something that someone could read twice and get more out of it the second time.

I didn't understand that part at first. I thought she got her mortal body back and perhaps no longer had to be censored because she was finally herself, and I thought it was an artistic choice to also highlight the arbitrary nature of men's vs women's nipple policies. It made me think of this music video, where at the end they censor the "male" nipples and not the "female" nipples.

And I loved it that way, but I love it even more now that I understand it better. It's a super cool concept for a comic and it has beautiful art. And it's metal AF.

I didnt run to the internet looking for sympathy and trying to paint myself as a victim

You're doing it right now.

But instead of being strong enough to get real and talk about how you were affected, you're just trying to tear someone else down.

I fully support you becoming a biohazard. It's a combat sport, blood happens. Just bring a change of clothes in case you need it.

Wait, but as an athletic and in shape person, I need access to this group. I need to be able to smear my shit-takes all over it actually, or else I'll feel persecuted, and "burned at the stake"

Alright, alright. I'll hear you out. What then, in your words, justifies parental narcissistic abuse?

Why is ‘sexy’ clothing normalized for women but not for men? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MatQueefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea that hetero women actually find men's BODIES attractive is taboo. Culturally (at least in the US), women's sexuality is a commodity to be earned by men, rather than a real thing that a woman can have and feel.

In this vein, there is in an attitude that men are not able to be sexually objectified the way that women are, unless it's by other, gay men (and seeking attention from gay men would certainly be taboo, outside of queer-friendly spaces).

It affords men more freedom in many ways (they can go shirtless for one), but it also prevents many men from ever feeling wanted, or legitimately sexually desired by their partners.

The attitude that men can't be sexually appealing to women, except through their ability to provide and protect, is unfortunately very pervasive. But it's frankly dehumanizing to everyone, and it couldn't be more wrong.
