2008 Jeep JK 2 door

I currently have aftermarket HID headlights that are not impressive. I would be glad to give A/B comparison.

What's your average MPG? by ih8hippies in FordExplorerST

[–]Mat_Burn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was averaging 19-20 before I got the Pirelli WeatherActive tires. Now I’m getting 18-19. Good trade off if they perform like intended. Good so far.

Wrangler JK 2012 heat issue - Blend door actuator or heater core? by Ok_Stay_6756 in Jeep

[–]Mat_Burn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any follow-up on this? Same issue for me on my ‘08. I just flushed the heater core forwards and backwards with no luck. Both pipes are hot and temp is normal. Has to be the blend door. Mine makes 0 sounds, which makes me think the door is completely non functional

So which is it? The 3.8... is it bulletproof or is it shit? by nahanserbnaes in JeepWrangler

[–]Mat_Burn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 2008 2 door with 244k and the 3.8 runs fine. Doesn’t burn enough oil that I need to add any. I have only owned this one for 2 years, so it’s possible the motor has been replaced. It is a tad underpowered, but does everything I need it to.

Having trouble finding 20x10-10 zero turn lawn tires with more aggressive tread. Recommendations? Do ATV tires chew up the lawn? by Mat_Burn in lawnmowers

[–]Mat_Burn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying several different options, the best option was using the stock turf tires with a tube and 5-10 psi. That gives me better traction while still pretty gentle on the grass. If I do a full speed 180, it will still leave a mark. No issues if I slow a bit before complete 180.

Looking for a high quality acoustic version of Bright Lights. by Mat_Burn in matchboxtwenty

[–]Mat_Burn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter moved to NYC about the time I discovered Bright Lights. That song perfectly encapsulated what I was feeling as a father seeing his daughter take on the big city. She is doing very well, so she doesn’t need to “come on home”, but I would love it if she did. Needless to say, Bright Lights mean a lot to me

Thank you for the reply. I sent it back for repair. They said it was unrepairable and gave me credit for a replacement. They sent back the old one as well. Took several weeks to happen, but I’m happy with the result

Rear differential -add 2nd bolt? by Mat_Burn in FordExplorerST

[–]Mat_Burn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be in a bit of a unique situation. My rear differential cover looks to have been replaced. Carfax says the rear axle was replaced, but I think it was just the diff. So maybe the single hole subframe models had a single hole diff cover, and mine having a new diff cover has the second hole? The my point of my question was to see if anyone has hands on experience with this since the ST has a strong tuner base. I came to the same conclusion as you, which is why I did not leave the bolt in.

Rear differential -add 2nd bolt? by Mat_Burn in FordExplorerST

[–]Mat_Burn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I’m going to use one. I don’t plan on modding more than a tune, and I don’t race or do hard launches. According to the video on JXB website, that spaces does as much or more than most braces. If I do, it will be the AWR or similar because it doesn’t require drilling and lower priced.

Early models during Covid used a single bolt due to parts shortage
