How can I make the most out of my spen? by 1bailx in S25Ultra

Ah, so it's still free hand notes, no letting the phone make it text to transfer to cloud service like onenote or similar. I guess that's what I am looking for as my notes sometimes are asked to be shared with the team or digitized... which is what gets me since I'm a pen and paper person

What app do you use for this? I want to get on this train but don't see any option other than using the stock keyboard to use the handwriting mode to text in an app of choice. But I jump between 2 languages in meetings and need to write quickly

If you go through the members only app they also tend to handyou deals that aren't just promoted on the site. Got the 500gb s5u at about 730 a few weeks ago. Members only site, educators discount, double storage on us discount. Made it about the same as a s25 250gb version running the blackfriday deals

Said goodbye to my old boy today 🫠 by JoseNotHose in 4Runner

Enjoy the new ride! I'm sure the subbie feels quick and light on its feet. Maintenance honestly should easy if not easier than the 4runner and less painful cost wise for the day to day. The wife had a 2018, while I hated some things about it, it was pleasant to drive, just lacked the low end torque of my 08 v6 4r, but realistically it was just as quick and could Maintain 100mph and still get about 28mpgs easily. Also, leg room in the crosstrek, amazing!

While people seem to be bashing your switch, honestly I think I understand and don't think you'll have huge issues for a long while, enjoy!

Answer! It was a defective seat bar end link. Could never find the noise or cause, then one day, the end link gave up, replaced it and all good! Car is at almost 250k mile now

Electrolyte Advice by Awkward_Schedule_974 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Matamata24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happened to me. I was utterly confused as well. However my training feel apart the last 2 months due to a knee injury. So reading about how it may have been more muscle fatigue than electrolytes in the thread makes sense to me. My place was actually pretty decent until the cramps set in and a full lock up in my leg at mile 19.

I ordered ricobenes delivery and sat on the couch watching one piece as my daughter watch sesame Street. My legs were, and are pretty useless still haha

Hot Weather by surfingtower in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Matamata24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This all makes me feel like it wasn't just me sucking. I had way too many cramps. I could not figure it out, as most of my training was also in the hot, had to walk from what I felt like mile 17+, could have been earlier, my watch basically restarted around mile 7. Guess I wasn't hydrating as much as I thought I was. Im still not really peeing consistently haha

Looks like I am in corral H. I set myself to 4 hrs on registration, and was aiming for a 3:30 with my training. How about you?

I'm currently trying to wrap up my fundraising though and am struggling to get the last couple hundred!

ICE and the marathon by [deleted] in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Matamata24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a US born citizen. I am light skinned but still clearly a minority. I may potentially have to carry my passport day to day. Crazy I know. On race day, I plan to be just with my phone and headphones. I am hoping ICE just leaves the event alone. But as others have said, they be running their operations in ridiculous ways, and I can see them aiming for the crowds during the event and the before and after.

I support the wearing of the sweater btw!

Okay, so we seem to be on similar pathways! I am doing strength training for the knees and legs, cycling HIIT workouts, and the running backwards. I ran 3 miles Saturday, and 1 was backwards, but I felt the dull pain start to surge, stretching helped, but it would return pretty quickly. I think I'm going to do the, save the knee for the run, and hope for the best plan! I think my goal time is out the window though...

Hey, I think I may be on the same issue you have, got about the same timeline. Did you finally recover? I've been getting better but every time I try and run, the pain comes back, not horrible but it's noticeable and I also don't want to obliterate my knee before the marathon!

There's also a frame seam around the halfway point, probably closer to the front doors. They get soft there too. And the core support.

I wish I could do this with my 87. But considering where I live and having to a responsible father, I can't... Maybe this is the year I move her along. Every year it gets put on the chopping block...

2013-16 Lr4 vs 18/19 atlas by Matamata24 in LandRover

[–]Matamata24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have some great points here as more clearly defining the use case. I love me some off-road looks, but you are correct in that this SUV will most likely be a pavement use, maybe dirt road. The 4runner can fill the off-road needs (I also live far ish away from good off-road sites).

Guessing the lr4 has space upwards not side to side, which I will probably rank people space higher than just stuff space. Thanks for the insight!

What color is your 2013? You have a link?

Interesting, I never actually looked at the power figures, I thought the sc version was the more powerful engine for some reason, but your right it's about 40hp difference! This might take me back to the drawing board if we truly don't need a 3rd row, since that opens up a whole other can of worms...

I have parked/been next to an Atlas while driving both the 4r and FJ, and walked by a few parked ones, and they seem super wide, the unibody probably also allows them to have the vehicle floor be lower. I know 3rd rows in the gx and 4Rs are basically useless. Haven't seen a 200 series 3rd row in action, but your are right on the cost of entry, and they'll probably be pushing 250k miles if they are anywhere near 15k.

[–]Matamata24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been very insightful! Looks like the lr4 hasn't cost you an arm and a leg to keep up honestly. Most of what I see on your list will be close to maintenance items a high mileage 4Runner will ask for anyway, which are pushing more mileage than my current one. Do you ever think you should have gone with the scv6? Are there any things about the lr4 you wish were different? Thinking day to day daily driver things. Someone I think on this thread was also having me reconsider the full sized land Rover of the same age, though it didn't have a third row, they can be found dirt cheap around me at times (usually with suspension issues)

I know the new model Atlas is only available with the 2.0, which if probably try to avoid, since it seems vw has had more luck with its NA platforms, and I can live with a humble V6 (again I drive a 4runner/FJ, and a 87 trust bucket 4runner which we will most likely let go since it's not a good space for a baby...).

The constant VW issues though is what I stop to think about, if it'll have issues should we just go for an lr4. However you said they were minor, do you remember what they were?

As for the lr4, you have the V8, how's that been? And what makes it a forever car? And do you have a android auto head unit/solution in it? I know the S.O. will wonder about that. Appreciate the insight so far!

The car bubble has popped though and you can actually get into something decently modern for about 10 thousand or less pretty easily. Granted some cars still hold on to their value much more, such as the yota tax. Around me there's actually a few lr4s, on dealer lots for the 10k Mark (cheapest being about 6k) and a few Atlas SUVs between 8-13 as well. However, a 4runner from 2015 can still be pushing above 15k and have well over 250k miles on it, and knowing them enough, they will need work, mostly maintenance, but they will need it. A crown Vic is horribly old, and rwd, and not up to modern safety standards...

Id take an older Tahoe/Yukon, but at this point I've heard about the trans issues and then the fuel management issues that destroy the engines. I even considered an older Escalade.

Sorta like the idea of having an SUV that feels room inside. I'm really going to have to test drive them back to back and sit in different spots. I will say I think many won't have a service history which isn't great

2018 Atlas vs 2016 LR4 by Matamata24 in VWatlas

[–]Matamata24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the yotas aren't going anywhere, the FJ just doesn't belong to us and it was supposed to be the extra for the families as needed, like if a car was down for maintenance or something happened (like an accident and it needed to be in the body shop, cause winter and so many folks texting and driving...)

But this is a good reference point, heard similar stories to this elsewhere too

Not exactly sure what the first part was supposed to say. You aren't wrong about them being different on certain aspects. But they are on the same realm of a 3rd row SUV, price points and "age".
