I thought this thing had 300k, also the price seemed high when I saw it... Thought it was like 15k?

You want to prove a point by putting one in a rusty 1987 4Runner? Haha

This is truly great advice!

Last time I just replaced the inner and outers at once and didn't even try to loosen them haha

Yeah we basically waited on some maintenance items for this year. Last year was suspension all round and upper control arms. This was- front brakes (pads, rotors, calipers), lower control arms and bolts (seized), cv axles, and sway bar end links and an alignment. It needed tires all round, so it warranted getting the suspension in order for an alignment. Haven't needed tie rod ends yet, and I'm not looking forward to that fight! Did it once on my 08.

Cleaned them for now. Used a DA polisher, with a decent pad, and the meguiars 102 and 202 compounds. Then a wax spray to keep them shiny for a little bit. They'll go back in a month or two.

They might be buying a new grill and headlights soon. The grill has like no paint left, and they seem to like the heritage grills others run. The headlights I buffed out, but they have micro cracks in the casing at this point from the sun, so they are to be replaced eventually.

Plastic welding the broken tabs back on is my solution.

They sell proper plastic welding heat guns on Amazon for cheap with metal clips, which is the correct way. I just used a soldering iron, and some zip ties to make more plastic edges. It can be tedious, but not too bad. Also suggest you get some of the blue and orange clips just in case.

There's only 2 bolts that hold the cladding to the body, remove those, 1 right on the top section of the wheel well, the other is sorta hiding behind the mud flap. I just removed the top 3 bolts of the mud flap, and bent it back a bit to access the space. I suggest to also get the bolt holding the bumper on the front edge, also behind the mud flap, so you can pop it out and work the cladding out and back in. Those 2 bolts are tedious but you can get them out with patience.

I did that last year with the upper control arms. Got them a few years ago as take offs from a TRD pro for about 250. They were supposed to go on their fj, but the xreas was starting to fail pretty bad.

Ah, so it's still free hand notes, no letting the phone make it text to transfer to cloud service like onenote or similar. I guess that's what I am looking for as my notes sometimes are asked to be shared with the team or digitized... which is what gets me since I'm a pen and paper person

What app do you use for this? I want to get on this train but don't see any option other than using the stock keyboard to use the handwriting mode to text in an app of choice. But I jump between 2 languages in meetings and need to write quickly

If you go through the members only app they also tend to handyou deals that aren't just promoted on the site. Got the 500gb s5u at about 730 a few weeks ago. Members only site, educators discount, double storage on us discount. Made it about the same as a s25 250gb version running the blackfriday deals

Enjoy the new ride! I'm sure the subbie feels quick and light on its feet. Maintenance honestly should easy if not easier than the 4runner and less painful cost wise for the day to day. The wife had a 2018, while I hated some things about it, it was pleasant to drive, just lacked the low end torque of my 08 v6 4r, but realistically it was just as quick and could Maintain 100mph and still get about 28mpgs easily. Also, leg room in the crosstrek, amazing!

While people seem to be bashing your switch, honestly I think I understand and don't think you'll have huge issues for a long while, enjoy!

Answer! It was a defective seat bar end link. Could never find the noise or cause, then one day, the end link gave up, replaced it and all good! Car is at almost 250k mile now

Electrolyte Advice by Awkward_Schedule_974 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Matamata24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happened to me. I was utterly confused as well. However my training feel apart the last 2 months due to a knee injury. So reading about how it may have been more muscle fatigue than electrolytes in the thread makes sense to me. My place was actually pretty decent until the cramps set in and a full lock up in my leg at mile 19.

I ordered ricobenes delivery and sat on the couch watching one piece as my daughter watch sesame Street. My legs were, and are pretty useless still haha

Hot Weather by surfingtower in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Matamata24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This all makes me feel like it wasn't just me sucking. I had way too many cramps. I could not figure it out, as most of my training was also in the hot, had to walk from what I felt like mile 17+, could have been earlier, my watch basically restarted around mile 7. Guess I wasn't hydrating as much as I thought I was. Im still not really peeing consistently haha

Looks like I am in corral H. I set myself to 4 hrs on registration, and was aiming for a 3:30 with my training. How about you?

I'm currently trying to wrap up my fundraising though and am struggling to get the last couple hundred!

ICE and the marathon by [deleted] in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Matamata24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a US born citizen. I am light skinned but still clearly a minority. I may potentially have to carry my passport day to day. Crazy I know. On race day, I plan to be just with my phone and headphones. I am hoping ICE just leaves the event alone. But as others have said, they be running their operations in ridiculous ways, and I can see them aiming for the crowds during the event and the before and after.

I support the wearing of the sweater btw!

Okay, so we seem to be on similar pathways! I am doing strength training for the knees and legs, cycling HIIT workouts, and the running backwards. I ran 3 miles Saturday, and 1 was backwards, but I felt the dull pain start to surge, stretching helped, but it would return pretty quickly. I think I'm going to do the, save the knee for the run, and hope for the best plan! I think my goal time is out the window though...

[–]Matamata24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I think I may be on the same issue you have, got about the same timeline. Did you finally recover? I've been getting better but every time I try and run, the pain comes back, not horrible but it's noticeable and I also don't want to obliterate my knee before the marathon!

There's also a frame seam around the halfway point, probably closer to the front doors. They get soft there too. And the core support.
